Many here hated Biden doing this, how about Trump?
$2k to everyone and not means tested is beyond stupid
I saw elsewhere the President said they’d go to anyone that makes less than $400K. To him, that’s homeless level poverty, I guess. Many here hated Biden doing this, how about Trump?

I’m not politically astute, but is it a good look for the Trump administration to be fighting so hard to stop SNAP money?
I’ll hang up and listen to your answers.
I'm not an expert, but when the shit hits the fan on something like people being able to afford food or not, it doesn't seem to bode well for incumbent parties, regardless of political spin.
And I know they're trying to put a band-aid on it, but just wait until the Medicaid cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill go into effect. I honestly don't know what the end game was here in keeping people from being able to afford food and get healthcare, but I can't imagine it'll be good.
Unless the damage from these things can be averted, everyone who cast their lot with Trump in this second term will be done politically.
All Trump and conservative media has to do is say it is Dems fault and they will buy it without question.

3. Anyone who opposed Biden’s attempts to buy votes with taxpayer money (stimulus checks, student loan forgiveness, etc.) but supports this is a hypocrite - and we’ve got tons of hypocrites.
I'll go one step further and say that anyone on the MAGA side of the aisle who doesn't come on here immediately, if not sooner, and rip Trump, is nothing but a hypocrite.
Thank God for you and @mcm666.

@bulk-vh I was answering you're original question for a second time. I blame Democrats for it because they voted against funding the SNAP benefits and for closing the government. I view everything downstream from Democrats voting against the CR. I realize a lot of people view it differently and am not sure how it will all shake out. Neither side has folded yet, but Polymarket drastically changed today. On Saturday the odds of the shut down going on past November 16 were at 63%. They're down to 38% today (dropped significantly several hours ago).

@aloha-hoosier contributes to inflation and does little
lol....but you're for Obamacare subsidies? The price on Obamacare subsides would be 150 billion if they give in to Democrats. I assume this would be a similar amount because they don't have much more tariff revenue. According to Grok the average premium will rise around 1,100 dollars if the Obamacare subsides aren't extended. You're being logically inconsistent if you think extending Obamacare subsides will hurt the GOP and then call this stupid. It's a good political move by the Trump administration.
@bulk-vh it looks like something got done.

@snarlcakes I’m for cheaper health insurance. I’d scrap it. Start over to the extent possible. As for political and the gop it’s very simple increased anything will hurt the gop now. Whether it is groceries or health insurance. Throwing out checks for two grand buys a month and will lead to more inflation. It’s a stupid move.
Trump won on cost of living. He should have focused on the border and healthcare. Not tariffs and free checks. That’ll only make things worse

I agree it's all stupid. However, we still run trillion dollar deficits to fund boomers retirement, healthcare, the military, welfare programs, the numerous departments, and etc. Can we stop with the notion that the government is principled? Or anyone is? The same people that complain about this will collect their SS check or want to continue funding Ukraine's war, or fund SNAP, or fund Obamacare, or you get the point.
It comes down to whose bread they want to butter and the trade offs for doing it. This would be a little inflationary, but it would be a net positive for 80% of the population. It's essentially a tax on the top 10% and foreigners and a transfer to the bottom 80%. I think it would be great for future votes. Everyone likes money when it's funding something they like or get. It's the American way, buddy.

I agree. There are times, think recessions, it makes sense. Right now, inflation is still over target and makes little sense.
Who wants to guess if it will be called the "Trump Rebate"?
