President in our lifetimes. Obama, who I never voted for or particularly liked as President, has been extremely gracious with Trump considering Trump claimed he wasn't an American born citizen and therefore not a legitimate President and has accused him of all sorts of crimes toward Trump. Same with Biden. Biden even had the grace to attend Trump's inauguration, which Trump didn't do for him. Trump deserves even more criticism than he gets. It's precedent after precedent during this Presidency. Every former President is invited to and usually attend the opening of every Presidential Library. Donald Trump was not invited to President Obama's Presidential Library dedication. Of course, until now the former Presidents have been reasonable and civil people. Obama mentioned “shared values that make democracy possible,” and noted that “every President here today, as different as we are, has tried our best to uphold [those values]” and that John McCain and Mitt Romney believed in them “no less than I did.”
Trump wasn’t invited to the ceremony today because he loathes democratic values. He values money and power. That’s it. Earlier today he declared in an interview that there are “no limits” to his power. I have little doubt that he truly believes that. He’s done incalculable damage to American democracy, and the well-sourced piece linked below lays it out. It was written late last year and would be twice as long if it were updated to include events that have occurred since then.

I've commented on that more than once, but I'll say it again now. Biden hung around and then dropped out way too late in the process, just a month before the national convention. It was selfish and unforgiveable.
Fortunately he's now irrelevant.
