- A July 2006 Scripps-Howard poll found that 36% of respondents thought it "very" or "somewhat likely" that federal officials participated in or failed to stop the attacks to facilitate war in the Middle East.
- A 2011 poll found that 15% of Americans questioned believed the U.S. government was responsible.
I wouldn't be that surprised with those numbers. Around 16% of the population have IQs of 85 or lower.
