@arthur-dent to be clear, I do think there is a “words are violence” movement that overwhelmingly is found within the Democratic Party. And maybe larger than people like yourself or Zeke would care to admit. This is most evident with trans debates where not acknowledging some by their chosen gender identity is seen as an attack on their very personhood.
Rhetoric can be toned down, but I don’t prescribe to the idea that we all need to “find the middle”.
If I believe you can’t change your gender, everyone here illegally should be deported, the nuclear family is the best and preferred family structure and other structures are inferior, black violence and failure to advance economically is overwhelmingly the fault of black people, abortion is murder and that homosexuality is a sin.
I should be able to say so without fearing for my life. I’m not going to temper earnestly held beliefs in the hope we can all sing Kumbaya.
Yet the things I just listed are inflammatory to the point of rage for too many left of center.
