this is dumb. And I’m starting to be over it. Plaintiffs lawyers should start suing the schools like they’re chum. They can buy special doors, locks, detectors etc. but they don’t care. My daughter’s school is a shithole. The stadium is gorgeous. Not a penny spared
Don’t @ me but technically the Kirk shooting is a school shooting.
@larsiu that’s too big of a campus etc. but these one building schools need to do better.

I do think schools should be more secure than they are, because trying to keep guns out of the hands of crazy people is a non-starter.
The high school my kids went to had probably the worst security ever. You had to be buzzed in, but if a shooter was dressed as a delivery person or knew the name of a student they could say they were dropping something off for, they could get in. After that, they'd have to fight off a slow secretary in her 80s before having unfettered access to the rest of the school.

The problem is, you can only do so much. Look at the MN shooter. He tried to get in, but the doors were locked, so he opened fire through stained glass windows. You can argue that the church needed to have bulletproof protection in today's landscape, but there are always other ways for people wanting to inflict harm to do so.
Bloomington South had a black, ex-cop SRO that quit after they disarmed him. Leftist nonsense...
MCCSC Board Votes to Disarm School Resource Officers – The Optimist
"In Tuesday’s meeting, board member April Hennessey acknowledged the tensions the subject raises. “This is a complex topic… I think for many of our students who have grown up in unsafe home environments, or who have complicated relationships with law enforcement, [armed SROs] can be triggering,” said Hennessey."
And...one of the biggest grifters in Bloomington history...
Before the final vote, board member Jacinda Townsend Gides also cited data from the Harvard Civil LIberties-Civil Rights Law Review showing that there has been no instance where an SRO prevented a school shooting through the discharge of a weapon. “Statistically speaking, however SROs are functioning, the weapon is not an essential part of that… and can cause a lot of fear,” said Towsend Gides.
I can't with this shit anymore. How many more kids have to get killed for us to try something, anything to get this to at least slow down?
It's getting to the point where I'm for making these schools like Fort Knox. I've got more faith in Murt getting married again then I do our government doing something to tighten gun laws (notice I didn't say take away), so if that's what we have to do to protect our kids, then do it.
We've gotta figure something else out because what we've been doing has been a massive fail.
