This is a both sides issue. The STOCK Act is toothless and with almost no enforcement given some spotty language. While trading based on nonpublic information is illegal, some argue that information about potential legislation is not always considered "material nonpublic information" in the same way corporate secrets are, making prosecution difficult.
It also doesn't prohibit members of congress from telling their spouses or friends or family. I note that two Michigan folks are in the top 10, and both are awful.

Greed is the downside of capitalism.
Corporate greed with upper-management making 100s of times the amount of money as the people on the bottom all of the way to politician greed making money on the side and taking bribes (donations) for voting decisions that allow those with the wealth to make the laws even more in their favor. It is why the wealth gap is expanding as fast as the NIL contracts (with no name image or likeness needed) that athletes are getting.
And then the greed from military contractors that has made going to war cost billions of dollars per day. How do we spend so much per year on our military and our munitions run dry after a month. Maybe the DOGE was checking the wrong departments.

Probably because he wasn't taking advantage of the presidential grift like the Trump kids are. They probably see that he owes $17 million in legal fees and think that's an afternoon of collecting bribes for access to and favor from the White House.
