Now that Democrats control Congress. How quickly can they end the war in Iran? And how quickly can they end the tariffs or drastically cut them back? Or do both require 60 votes in the Senate?

Tariffs aren’t going anywhere. The Democrats love to bitch about them but they also love the money in government coffers
They like endlessly negotiating trade agreements though. Giving away the store usually.
And they'll do whatever they can to take that power away from Trump.
@spartans9312 I wasn't trying to have a conversation about whether they would or wouldn't. I assume they won't and the media/liberals won't say sh#t. I'm generally asking could they end both as soon as they take office.
They can't do anything about either. Trump has veto power. I guess enough Republicans could join them in overwriting a veto, but Dems certainly can't do anything on their own.
@twenty legislatively tariffs would have to be negotiated as a part of budget bills etc. otherwise states would have to try to get injunctions. Probably around labor issues etc. no Fing idea what court they would go to
@bar-down well none of Trump's tarrifs were via the legislative process, they were all implemented unilaterally under different emergency statues and other specific existing sections of trade laws. Best Dems could do is use other non-related must pass legislation as leverage. But hard to see how Trump would negotiate his power away in either area.
@twenty yep leverage is what I was referring to outside of injunctive relief. I don’t think Dems care too much about tariffs to bother tho.
I am well outside my wheelhouse, but I think they can pass a legislation that can stop the war, but Trump can veto it. The question would then become, could they get a supermajority to overcome the veto. I think getting 11-ish senators to cross party lines might be possible, but getting 40+ House members might be tough.

I don't think it will come to that but knowing it's possible might help tip the scale away from an already very unpopular war. My guess is it will become even less popular once this admin is forced to talk more about it. Hands will be forced.
Probably saved 500M lives.

He's not even including at least another 100M more souls who would have been lost to fallout...
Eisenkot would cooperate with the US ending the war. Trump’s probably ready to call it and take a victory lap now that the Gnatenyahoos will stop buzzing around his brains.
