I know Snarl will hate this, but I heard a quote I think explains a lot. When the suburbs voted for Trump in 24, they heard that he was going to go after the bad illegal immigrants. They never expected to see their nanny tackled and zip-tied at the kid's bus stop.
Why? Hispanics biggest reason for shifting left in exit polls was immigration policies and deportations. I'm not surprised at all Hispanics have more alliance to their tribe than America. Humans are tribal. Or Women get squishy or indoctrinated. They're emotional creatures and tik tok is powerful. By the way I'd be the exact same way myself if me and my family invaded Mexico. This sh#t isn't difficult to figure out.
You keep playing the race card and now you're saying the GOP lost because Hispanic-americans aren't loyal enough to the USA? Jeeebus, that's as bad as when the Dems told us we were racist and misogynist for not voting for Kamala.
Again, the hispanic-americans who voted for trump supported tougher immigration in 2024, not Grandpa Lopez -- who's been here for 30 years, worked his ass off, and has 7 grandkids -- being paraded in front of cameras before being whisked off to the Congo or some crazy ass place without due process.
You'll stay lost in all this until you figure out that difference.
You keep bringing up race, not me. Hispanic is an ethnicity. I do agree Hispanics don't want wide open borders (it sucks having your labor devalued) at Biden levels. However, they also don't want closed borders and deportations. You can't have a law that says deport A for being here illegally, but not B because I like them.
Ya, they don't want some ghoulish freak like Stephen Miller running a real-life version of The Purge. Most Americans didn't and expressed that opinion on Tuesday.
Most Americans don't want 100% deportation and 0% immigration, even for people of different ethnicities. People do polls on this stuff. Check them out.

I see the district I grew up in is the only red (pink) one. When I was young it was solidly Democrat, but conservative Democrat. Most of us became Reagan Republicans.
And they will think they have a mandate and screw up for the next election. The American voter amazes me sometimes. They will vote based on one issue and to heck with the others. They probably think that the Democrats will lower gasoline prices (and gasoline prices will probably come down) and then get the shaft when the Democrats raise taxes.Dems are going to end up with over 240 seats in the House. And at least 54 seats in the Senate.
This was a tsunami.

People didn't just vote on one issue though. A lot of people voted on their belief that in the last election cycle, they were sold a bag of goods that turned out to be fraudulent.

NPT Will the Dems have the guts along with some GOP support to raise taxes and cut sending in order to actually do something about the growing national debt? [Won't happen]
The alternative being to come up with some kind of anti-capitalism wealth tax which isn't going to happen either.
P.S. Thus inflation will continue in spite of gasoline prices dropping. Bottom line, red tsunami ahead.
@hoot No way. A wealth tax has never made any sense to me. How do you enforce that? I know one of the complaints I've read is that the wealthy have stock that they hold for years and never sell so the government can't collect taxes on the gain They could fix that by just giving the lower tax rate on capital games for years 2 thru 10 (randomly picked numbers) and after year 10 the gains are taxed as normal income like they would be in the first year. Or some variation of that to encourage them to sell.

@twenty Funny, but all his existing tariffs are mostly paid by Americans.
I saw a map on Facebook, no idea if it is accurate. it said if Indiana had passed redistricting it would be 8-1 Democratic. I am still quite glad it didn't happen, but if true that would have been a bad idea that proved hilarious as can be.
This was a betrayal election.
