Grocery prices in the U.S. soared faster in April than any month in nearly four years, driving up the cost of everything from hot dogs to tomatoes to cupcakes, government data this week showed.

Fresh vegetables cost 11.5% more than they did a year ago. Seafood prices are up 6.2% over that time, according to the data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The jump in food prices stems in part from a historic oil shock set off by the Iran war, which increased diesel costs, analysts told ABC News. Diesel is the lifeblood of the food supply chain, fueling trucks and ships. Higher fuel costs for suppliers mean price hikes in grocery aisles as the increased costs are passed down the supply chain.

Tariffs and weather-related shortages, analysts added, helped push up prices for some food items, worsening the strain on shoppers’ wallets.

Can't blame Trump for the weather, but the tariffs and war are 100% on him.  Uniquely awful leadership.

10 year Treasury broke above the psychological 4.5% mark today.

30 year Treasury now at highest point since mid 2007.

I think 5% on the 10 year is threshold for the Iran War.  If Trump doesn't ended the war then, they must have really good intel saying Iran is really close to a nuclear weapon.

@jdb so the play was you bought one house, used the projected rental income to boost your stated income. Now you leverage into house 2. Rinse, repay. You go to 10 houses. Goal 1. Then 50 houses. That's how it was sold

Everyone made money untill the music stopped. Was an amazing time to live through being in that world at that time. High school dropouts were opening mortgage shops and making 100k/mo.

I spoke to a broker a month ago about vegetable pricing. He said he’s still buying everything but tomatoes. They are too expensive. Said Florida was hit by cold weather at the wrong time. So…I set 90 plants. That will surely make the price come down
