yet when Grandpa Joe was in office, everything was fine.

Don't give me that shit. You yourself were impressed with how they were able to thread the needle and avoided both runaway inflation and recession. Granted, that was mostly Powell's doing. At least Biden didn't cause Covid.

imagine blaming Trump for COVID instead of holding the CCP accountable

If you're implying I was blaming Covid on Trump, you misunderstood (and should know better).

Biden didn't cause Covid, but was forced to deal with it when he inherited it.

Trump has caused the Iran war, and is now trying to clean up his own mess.

nobody said Biden caused COVID. His stupid fiscal policies the inflation issues. Many of us were adamant that rounds 2+ of stimulus weren’t needed, but his administration and Dem leadership ignored it.

If Trump had his way, he would have pumped out a lot more free cheese then what people got his first time around.

It hasn't even been a year and he was already talking about a possible stimulus from all the tariff money.

And, Mark didn't say Trump caused COVID...but, he has caused Iran War. That's the point.

Something to also bear in mind is that there is going to be an upper limit to AI capability soon based upon power generation.

You remember how everybody had their panties in a wad about how EV's were never going to be able to replace the ICE cars because the power grid couldn't handle the additional load?

For reference, the power needed to support all the EV's on the road today is the same as what 10 AI data centers require.  There are currently 4000 AI data centers in this country and there are plans for doubling that amount in the next 5-10 years.

It is coming to the point where you will need the complete output from a single nuclear power plant to operate the larger AI data centers (1 gigawatt).

AI is not going to get to the level that larsIU is talking about until we figure out a way to get a massive boost to our power grid.  We're talking 20 to 25 nuclear reactors in every state.  That is not happening in the next 30 years.

That problem is already being worked on though. I nearly invested in a nuclear power generation company that puts minireactors in/alongside Data Centers to alleviate the grid problem.

We should build many reactors quickly. Maybe we will.

The race to build new nuclear reactors — fast (with AI's help)

Consumer Spending, Engine of the U.S. Economy, Is Under Strain - The New York Times

Consumer prices jumped 0.9% in March as Iran war sent gas prices soaring

US inflation soars in March as war on Iran drives economy into uncertainty | US economy | The Guardian

First the tariffs and then the war.

That Trump.  He sure knows how to f**k things up.

Gas prices hit $4.15/gal average nationwide for regular unleaded. And signs are it will continue to rise. Paid over 5 bucks per gallon (premium) here in AZ today. This is very much ungood.

AAA Fuel Prices

Inflation follows. CPI inflation soars by most since 2022 as gas prices rise

Hope it's temporary. Trump team dismisses hot inflation print, promising energy shocks will 'very, very quickly go away'

Yes, and even higher prices for diesel used by trucks and farm equipment.  That will, in turn, drive up the price of produce and other goods that require distant transport.  I read an economic report this morning suggesting that there will be lag in price increases on some of these items, not occurring until late Spring and Summer.  And that's if the strait were to reopen today. If there's further delay, the price increases will be felt for an even longer period.

The Strait wasn't an issue 6 weeks ago.  Trump created that problem and it's impacting the global economy including ours.  From a strategic standpoint, it was a gift to the Iranian regime and a huge source of leverage for them. It's stunning that he apparently did not see that coming.  Sheer incompetence.

What I think happened is that some in his inner circle convinced him that this war would cement his legacy as bold, decisive and the savior of Israel and the Middle East.  He was probably giddy at the tactical prospects (and this has obviously been, militarily, an enormous success for the United States and Israel), but without serious deliberation as to long-term strategy and the endgame.
