New thread to make sure this isn’t lost in the shuffle.

It’s a serious conversation starter, I think, and he’s putting it out there for the free world to discuss. he includes the threat of China and really addresses all the main topics as far as I know.
Nothing to worry about. I'm told that all we need is a smart President... er... uhm... nevermind.
This doesn't sound good. OpenAI could not have handled this any poorer.

Instead of thanking OpenAI for exposing a vulnerability the braindead simpletons threaten it. Real smart. Their next brilliant move will be to license Chinese and Russian companies instead. This doesn't sound good. OpenAI could not have handled this any poorer.

Going weeks without notification and then emailing a generic email? That's poor form.

I feel like we're getting to the real thrust here. No systems will be safe. Somebody will attack banks and credit cards. The faith in the economic system will weaken.
It's spiraling now. Black stars. Carcosa.......
@larsiu i share a practical experience that will be coming. the adult daughter of one my partners is a trainwreck. she's like 30. 6 months ago had her car repoed. came to the office frantic so my partner had to give her his card to pay however much she was behind and all that shit to get it back. now she's getting sued for old credit cards. the only docket bigger than a criminal docket in 95% of the courthouses in america is the bulk collection dockets. they're like a cattle auction. so she's got like three credit cards suing her. and the amounts are comical. tiny amounts. so my partner found out said he'll just pay them all off. i'm not shitting they're suing now over like $900 bucks. they'll sue over an unpaid $600 ambulance ride. it used to be you knew all the local firms that did that shit. they had an emai address. a phone. super nice. they just had a racket. it's whatever. but you'd call them and say hey dude my client is getting garnished by you. good pi client. i'm doing this for free. can you release it and do a payment arrangement. of course!! they'd do it in a second no problem.
now that shit. no lawyer email. it's communications@wecollectdebts.com. no phone number. it's 1800 debt collector. you cannot reach anyone. we literally just talking about this shit. 99.99% of that entire practice area will be taken over by AI. and for the 50 million debtors or however many there are it will make life absolutely miserable. they'll file defaults. file garnishments. you'll never get a person to talk to. it'll run like clockwork.
now i'm not taking up for the deadbeats but folks don't realize just how AI will touch our every day lives in a very miserable way. my partner was like i'm never helping another person with a collections matter again. ever.

This sounds like an exciting business proposition! How do I get in?
@larsiu LMAO we looked at it about 15 years ago honestly. at that time you could buy around 3 million in debt for about two to two hundred and fifty grand. free and clear. whatever you collect you keep. no idea what those numbers are today but i wouldn't be surprised if it's still around that
@larsiu i'll never forget i had this one i was doing for a soccer buddy of mine that owns a bunch of restaurants. so i called this old collection lawyer. real nice guy. been around forever. his name was the firm. he goes murt give me a day and i'll get back to ya. i go a day. for fuck's sake why would it take a day?! he goes: i have 80,000 files.
i about shit. now imagine just turning all that over to AI. robocalls. send out demands. file. default. garnish. all AI. and i guess unlike a stupid human you could program the fair debt collection shit and it would never fuck up either.
could do the same with evictions. foreclosures. repos. you're ever late on anythign you'd just be fucked. the human float gone.
Clearly, but it's not their job in the first place. If they complained to me about it, I'd say GFY, next time I won't bother to tell you at all.Going weeks without notification and then emailing a generic email? That's poor form.
Exactly. That's the important point here. Pointing accusative fingers at one of the honest players is insane. Focus should be on the dangerously vulnerable systems currently in place. They should be begging the honest players to use AI to protect their systems, not worry about AI going rogue and attacking them. AIs have no consciousness. It's bad humans who will use AIs to attack systems.I feel like we're getting to the real thrust here. No systems will be safe. Somebody will attack banks and credit cards. The faith in the economic system will weaken.

I'm weeping over all those poor delinquents.
My mom died with about $45K on cards. I called to pay it off and they literally told me I didn't have to once she died. I paid it anyway. Trump would say I paid it because I'm stupid. You might too. I live in a different world.
