I always liked reading Rockfish's posts and thought he was probably one of the smartest guys posting on whatever board we were all posting on at the time. I think we'd all be better off if he were still posting.
That said, it's kind of crazy how long we've all been at this, in one form or another.
@ohio-guy definitely an interesting poster to read. yes it's been a long time. not many left posting unfortunately

I feel like there has always been a space for political discussion on whichever board we were on at the time, but I feel like it was after 9/11 that a dedicated 'water cooler' was added. I miss some of those people from those early days. Another poster I enjoyed reading was Club Jockey. I think he left the boards when he started getting books published. Maybe he was using time he used to post to actually write. I don't know.
I met a fair number of the people who regularly posted in the early 2000s either at various IU games or in the 2002 Peegs 3 on 3 tournament. To my knowledge, that was one and only year that happened. I'm still salty that teams could bring in ringers and it wasn't limited to just peegs subscribers/posters. IU Believer and I would have cleaned up with our team.

Who brought the Ringers?
Who brought the Ringers?
It's been awhile, but I remember at least one team had two guys who played college basketball at least at the DIII level. One on hand, I got it - they rented a space in Bloomington to host the tournament and probably couldn't limit it to just posters, but on the other hand we ran into a buzzsaw.
Remember Tecnifibre? I'm not sure if he's around anymore under a different handle but I met him at that tournament. He was a good dude.

I wish we still had etec and cj around. And Rock. And DJ88.
Also, the forum (and really all true internet forums as they once were) died in the summer of 2015, when we all got this message (IYKYK):
Click here to relive the anger.
Ive always liked Rockfish and I counted him as a friend. At some point the friendliness went to hell and he thought my name was “jackleg”.
He posted a some stream-of-consciousness messages about his stroke, depression, and a trial with a bad outcome. Still think about him from time to time and hope he is doing well.

Rockfish was smart poster with a great needle. The needle was especially great if you weren’t on the receiving end.
When he left Rivals he wasn’t okay.
@theartistfkaranger 😳😳😳😳😳
Question if I may as I have no idea who you are.
Ever been wakeboarding?
Yes or no?
