every city that did cut LE funding rescinded those cuts fairly quickly. Most were back to pre"defund" levels of funding by 2023. Most have actually exceeded where they were. It was stupid and it seems they did find Jesus.it went up 30 percent and people lost their shit over how stupid it was.
I know crime went up significantly during COVID. It's steadily declined since.
And for what it's worth, I always thought Defund the Police was a horrible idea. I've never denied it was a thing at one point, it's just not something anyone needs to be concerned with now. No one is significantly defunding the police in 2025. No one is proposing it.
Reform training, make mental health counseling mandatory and pay raises is what I would have done.
Yes it has explained to you. By me.@bradstevens what AOC personally believes is immaterial. She's not governing that way - or at least she hasn't tried to for the better part of half a decade. The fact remains that overall crime has decreased since a sharp spike during COVID.
And nothing has been 'explained to me.' Of course politicians run on things to get them elected. Defund the Police wasn't a good campaign promise and it was never good policy. It's not something to be concerned with in 2025.
We’ve had this same discussion before where I pointed out how inconsistent this is for you to argue when you and Bowl and others made such a big deal about Projext 2025 during the last election. You and others didn’t believe Trump’s denouncement of the document and his not running on it. At that point , you sure did think what the politicians thought was “material,” not what they explicitly ran on.
Why the fck do you think cities backed off it. Bc it was a disaster
That's my whole point. It's not a thing anymore.
And crime spiked during the first Trump administration. And you're ignoring the fact that crime has steadily decreased.
Cities quit reporting crimes.
@zeke4ahs how many what were shot by illegals? You don’t think illegals are committing crimes?
She's insane. Perfect Democrat.

Policing is done at the local level. Just two years ago, the mayoral candidate for the third largest city in the country:Why the fck do you think cities backed off it. Bc it was a disaster

@spartans9312 Absolutely agree.
so next time someone who’s a girl thinks they are a man….tell them how stupid they are and to have a little common sense. It’s time to re-open Muscatatuk.
So three HBCU's closed due to unspecified threats, and DC police responded to an "incident" at the DNC. Probably just an overreaction out of an abundance of caution, I hope, but my gut tells me this shooting is not the turning point that gets people to step down off the ledge. I think it only makes further violence more likely.
Sounds like they're getting close.

Wrong thread.
Nope. Zeke says illegals don't commit crime.
So can we have a Charlie Kirk thread that is just about Charlie Kirk without devolving into the same stupid political food fights?
So can we have a Charlie Kirk thread that is just about Charlie Kirk without devolving into the same stupid political food fights?
The answer in this thread is an emphatic NO, not when there are agendas to push.
Now the Naval Academy is on lockdown due to unspecified threats. Did include that it was "out of an abundance of caution."
