@mcm666 Can you point to a sitting Democrat in the US Congress that ran on defunding the police?
It's a valid question. Defund isn't currently a thing, unless you're talking about the Trump Administration's actions this year.
No, it's not. As has been explained to you, politicians "run" on what they think will get them elected, not on what they might believe. Do you honestly think AOC (a sitting member of Congress), for example, doesn't still believe in Defund the Police?
Social media provides people with a mask. You aren’t confronting those you are arguing with. You aren’t saying that ti their face. People treat it like shouting into the void when in reality it cand and does more equate to taking some crazy and amplifying it.
I've often thought most of these conversations would be VERY different if we were all sitting in the same room together. I honestly try never to post something I wouldn't say to someone's face.
We get into it here but this isn't X or Reddit. Most of us have digital familiarity and this format and our prior formats were set up to have more discussion than X or Reddit. So while we all probably get out of bounds here, anything that happens here when compared to those bigger platforms is like apples and hammers. We aren't comparing the same things.
@ohio-guy implemented it across the country. Violent crime spiked. Stl alone had 25,000 cases dumped with a soros prosecutor. A bail project release murdered someone in my neighborhood. This has been posted a thousand times. Data. Articles. Homicide reports. And you’ve read it. So are you just ignorant or willfully ignorant in your little Athens bubble. My tolerance for people like you is gone. Why the fck do you think cities backed off it. Bc it was a disaster
@bradstevens what AOC personally believes is immaterial. She's not governing that way - or at least she hasn't tried to for the better part of half a decade. The fact remains that overall crime has decreased since a sharp spike during COVID.
And nothing has been 'explained to me.' Of course politicians run on things to get them elected. Defund the Police wasn't a good campaign promise and it was never good policy. It's not something to be concerned with in 2025.
@ohio-guy dude it went up 30 percent and people lost their shit over how stupid it was. It hasn’t gone up like that under Trump. And do you suddenly believe that all these progressive dumb fcks got Jesus and don’t believe in it anymore. They lost everything and still are doubling down on woke. Have you ever heard the right back defund as part of a convention. Campaign. Make massive cuts. What Trump did as part of his budget isn’t even half of what one city did. It’s nothing. I’m just wasting my time with you. I could give you every stat in the world and you’ll either forget or put your head in the sand.
it went up 30 percent and people lost their shit over how stupid it was.
I know crime went up significantly during COVID. It's steadily declined since.
And for what it's worth, I always thought Defund the Police was a horrible idea. I've never denied it was a thing at one point, it's just not something anyone needs to be concerned with now. No one is significantly defunding the police in 2025. No one is proposing it.
