Anyone else affected by these?  I was affected by both...Capital One settled for $425M (deceptive marketing) and AT&T settled for $177M (data breach).  First thought is it's about time these mega-corporations be held responsible.  Second thought is will these protections from the CFPB apply in the future with the gutting of that agency?  Thoughts?  Or just prayers?  That last part was probably unnecessary 😉 I'm honestly looking for feedback/constructive conversation.

every time I see a celeb pimping for cap one it makes me despise the gross actors  in Hollywood even more. F Samuel Jackson Jennifer garner and all the rest.  Evil predatory company.

hopefully by the end of trump’s term we’re done caring about any of these vapid celebs.  Zero education. Or theatre. Zero real life experience. Big opinions. DiCaprio and all the rest. His environmental shit as he’s flying all over the world dressed like a teen covering his face.  Creepy creepy morons

@mcm666 I agree, but that doesn't answer my question lol.  Quick backstory:  I had savings at ING Direct, online only and fantastic rates.  Capital One bought them, shoved all of my money into low yield accounts while marketing it differently.  Eventually I caught on, moved my money.  I just assumed that potential $ was gone until I got the mailer today, thus my question re: CFPB.  They brought the lawsuit, but will they look out for us "little guys" in the future?

@bcbranimal I know nothing about it and have not followed any of it. No idea if there’s an opt in or out and whether that precludes individual actions etc. @bradstevens might

@mcm666 oh I've opted in on the Capital one settlement...yet to decide on the at&t settlement.  To be honest I was surprised anything is happening...I've been resigned to getting bent over by the big corporations lol

You're just hating on Leo because he's still pulling in 25 year olds which you can't do anymore.

I can see through your game.

@boogie I hate vapid celebs.  That’s unrelated to my inability to pull 25 year olds.  Tho, and it doesn’t matter, where did they all go. Not at any of the restaurants I go to. The gym in my building. Sbx. I NEVER see any anymore

Its history is for typography I was told. (By googling.) I doubt it applies on the web, where creating white space seems to follow different rules. I think it would look worse with the period inside. Probably not in print.

Who is a vapid "celeb."

Who is a vapid "celeb".

Who is a vapid 'celeb'.

Who is a vapid 'celeb.'

NVM

Ok, I guess not, first one looks best.

Although the single quote may work, I like it when just indicating common slang or coined terms, when on the web. But then I think that outside period looks equal.

Stupidest rule in a language filled with stupid rules. Like the old caboose, the period should end a sentence. Period.
