@hhlurker She doesn’t deserve the rough fouls, but she brings quite a bit on herself. She constantly argues with the refs, she has argued at the coaches, she gets in the face of players when she scores on them. I saw this in college and figured she’d change when she hits the pros but she hasn’t. I love watching her and go to several games a year, sitting close behind the bench. She’s kind of a brat.

@mommyshine5220 the arrogance of people who grew up in Indiana and their ability to shoot a basketball is something to behold. And I fleshed it out with both of them as they are both big guys. One is about 6’6 300lbs. Both said they would not need to back her down. They would beat her face up. Again these are 50something year olds. And heavy drinkers. And eat like kings.

She is a very good player, but the WNBA is dwarfed by the NBA in market size. What makes her this huge draw?

Yes they do. But why her over players that have won championships? At the game Friday, I do not recall seeing a single Boston or Mitchell shirt. Mitchell leads the team in scoring, Boston was also a #1 pick. There were a handful of Cunningham and Hull, but almost all Clark.
People who do not follow the WNBA at all by Clark jerseys and post on message boards about her. Congressmen who I doubt have ever attended a WNBA game write the WNBA about her. What makes her bigger in people's minds than the league itself?

Why the hell would you want to bust her ass out of the league?
Perhaps interesting is comparing the Trump phenomenon and the Caitlin Clark phenomenon. Trump is natively a political creature and seeks to self aggrandize his stature. And he has some form of charisma although not the typical form that is universally attractive.
Caitlin Clark by contrast doesn’t really have any personal charisma and doesn’t seem to be a political creature whatsoever. She doesn’t seem to be seeking the spotlight as a person. It has to be her game that captures the imagination of young girls. Her game has charisma of some sort.
