Is he really trying to make people think he's a Republican, or has the mainstream Democratic Party shifted so far in the other direction that he appears to be one (e.g., Fetterman, Machin)?
There's no question in my mind he's "hiding" the fact that he's a Democrat and that he's playing to the current Republican electorate. Which is a reasonable strategy, I guess. Just seems shady.
Check these out and decide for yourself.
No I’m not. You said for a dem to be these things he must be dishonest. I reject that notion.

No', that's not what I've said.
Too bad I don't live in Indiana anymore. I'd vote for him. He may be lying, as most politicians are during elections, but at least he makes some sense. Always have voted Republican, once in awhile a Dem, a few libertarians. But Trump and his gang have got to go or at least be crippled for the next two years...
So any moderate Democrat in any position anywhere - other than than the moon-bat ones, of which their are many on the left, unfortunately, equal weight to the moon bat maga on the far right - local, state, federal, any 'centrist Democrat', I hope to hell they win.
@unclemark ”. A Democrat can't win in Indiana, so Democrats have to pretend they're not Democrats, or at least hide from the fact. I get it, but I don't like it. It strikes me as dishonest.”
This.
@unclemark He's still less off-putting than Talarico.
Talarico gives me Eddie Haskell vibes.
Every time he appears on my TV asking for "just one dollar" there's a voice in my head that says "don't give it to him, he's just going to spend it on porn."
Thanks for the link to the videos.
I don’t see what you’re saying whatsoever. He comes across to me as genuine, unlike Tallarico as goat mentions, and he comes across to me as a classic traditional Indiana Democrat. Absolute breath of fresh air for me.
Full disclosure, I loved shooting rifles when I was a kid.
Full disclosure part two, the current version of so-called Democrats are for me stupid and revolting. I’d rather vote for Marco Rubio, JD Vance, or even Ron DeSantis.
This true. But I don't vote for Republicans to watch them trash the economy with the liberal playbook of centrist control, massive protectionism, and other top down idiocy. And whatever dumbass thing Trump thinks up this week.Full disclosure part two, the current version of so-called Democrats are for me stupid and revolting. ...
So Trump and supporters have got to go... To get back to a freedom loving Republican party with consistent and sensible ideas.
If that means finding more right leaning Democrats and voting them in, so be it.
I'd rather elect Republicans to fight back, fight for the main party ideas, but they all fold! #### 'em .
I think Vance isn't too bright, although nowhere near the idiocy of an AOC or some on the left. Rubio is OK, DeSantis is.
I guess it's come to this. A Democrat can't win in Indiana, so Democrats have to pretend they're not Democrats, or at least hide from the fact. I get it, but I don't like it. It strikes me as dishonest.Obama took Indiana. What are you talking about?
Then again, Obama didn’t campaign primarily on litmus-testing social justice warrior dogma. He campaigned on economics and uniting the country. He came across as real.
Social justice occurs in the marketplace. Just look at TV ads for consumer products and at TV shows. The STUPIDEST mistake Democratic politicians ever made was to jump into the GOP cesspool of Right To Life when they already had Roe v Wade. Back then they dominated the House. Ever since the 80s Dems focused increasingly on social justice at the expense of the economy (stupid), and now the DP is no longer recognizable. To the point where you, @unclemark, literally can’t recognize that Beau Bayh is actually a normal Democrat.
I would be too if the DNP hadn’t been overrun with really ignorant people divorced from reality.

Better porn than mistresses or gambling, I suppose.

I see what you are saying because he doesn't openly say he's a Democrat (at least in a couple of his FB ads/posts). That said, I find that refreshing because he focuses more on what he intends to do than on party-line talking points. Does he have DNC backing or support or he is effectively running on his own?
You don’t need to be a fat lady in a Subaru with a defund the police bumper sticker to be a Democrat.
This fits with all the times you have stepped in when Republicans here call other Republicans RINO. At last count the number of times you took offense at that was; zero. But if time is non-linear than there may be times that haven't happened in linear time.
I don't like purity tests for either party. All a party is is group think, doesn't matter if it is R or D and that group think has us in the mess we are in. A Huntsman can be a Republican, a Fetterman a Democrat. But a whole lot of Republicans lost positions for simply not believing Trump is perfect.
