I'm not going to derail this thread with politics, like you've interjected, but I will interject it with FUCK OFFEuros falling in love with America and the south is absolutely hilarious to follow on social media.

A shame, that the western press is often keen on painting America and Americans as uninviting and inhospitable. Even dangerous.
Hospitality? In middle America?! We could have never imagined.

My U9 plays 25 min halves and has hydration breaks when the temp warrants it. I think she'll move up to 35 min halves at U11 on a bigger field (9v9, I think).@gros-louis my minion and I were at the elite academy national championships over the weekend for a little bit. No hydration breaks.
the younger groups didn’t play full 45 minute halves. They were playing as short as 25 minutes
It'll never happen, but I'd advocate for the hydration breaks happen on the field, with each team gathering just on their half of the field near the center circle and 2-3 trainers bring the bottles to them. No coaching, just hydration. Again, will never happen. The genie is out of the bottle.
Do they allow unlimited substitutions at that level? Seems like that would solve it. Just have the rules like hockey, the superior sport. My U9 plays 25 min halves and has hydration breaks when the temp warrants it. @bradstevens hockey and subs are fundamentally flawed. Two lines is all you need
You got it backwards. Soccer and subs are fundamentally flawed. Unlimited subs, guys running on and off the field all the time, goals made on bad switches, more fresh legs to attack. Now if we could only instill the hockey player's mindset regarding toughness and flopping, we might make something of this sport.@bradstevens hockey and subs are fundamentally flawed. hockey sucks, but aside from that, for my daughter's soccer they limit roster sizes to make sure kids get to play. For example, my daughter plays 7v7. Now, her team only had 8 girls, but they would have taken 9 or 10 if there were enough girls. But no more than 10, because then not enough playing time/development if you have too many girls. Now what sucked was several games where a player was not there, so we had no subs. Only one of those was a hot day, but either way, it was a lot of running for some of their little legs.Do they allow unlimited substitutions at that level? Seems like that would solve it. on hockey, I've often thought about what I believe were the origins of the sport, which was on a pond with no walls/dasher boards. Would be a much more beautiful game of skill than what it is today with just launching pucks to the other end and chasing them down. Checks against the boards.
Overtime playoff hockey is great, just like any other sudden death sport, but aside from that, it's unwatchable.
College soccer has unlimited subs in the 2nd half and is nothing close to what you describe. You got it backwards. Soccer and subs are fundamentally flawed. @gros-louis not to hijack but I grew playing an obscene amount of indoor. We played ten indoor games for every one outdoor game. I think that was fantastic for development. Touch. Ability to play in small spaces etc.
isn't futsal indoor but no walls to play off of? or not allowed to play off of?@gros-louis not to hijack but I grew playing an obscene amount of indoor. We played ten indoor games for every one outdoor game. I think that was fantastic for development. Touch. Ability to play in small spaces etc.
My daughter played futsal leagues during "off seasons" on a basketball court. Squeak. Squeak. Soccer is great but it could be better with a few tweaks.
1. field is too large shrink it
2. net is too big, shrink it
3. Too many players, should just be a goalie, two defensemen and three attackers
4. subs on the fly like you mention, shouldn’t need a stoppage
5. cover the field with ice

Well, OK, then: soccer cannot be saved.
