Congrats to Devin Taylor, thanks for the memories.
BEAT PURDUE
Normally I wouldn't like this landing spot, but he'll now be entering a bigger market when they move to Vegas which will be good for Taylor's career as a whole. I wish they stayed in Oakland, but Vegas will be better for the players and better for Taylor.
Of course, the ideal situation is to stay in Oakland, get a new stadium, and actually start paying players. But they didn't want to do that...
The A's are pretty good at player development, so it's not like Taylor is going to a bad situation baseball wise. It's just ownership that isn't the best.
Hope he becomes a star - let's go Hoosiers!

What's your thoughts on Alex Barr and Matthew Fisher making it to Btown. Both went in lower rounds than expected. Love to see them in a Hoosier uniform but I'm not going to hold my breath. Can't blame them for chasing their dreams.

@82iugrad Not sure what kind of money Fisher and Barr have been offered. It had better be way above draft slot for these guys to go pro.
@bigmike I read an article on Fisher and it said Philadelphia had plenty of money to offer and it sounded like it might be hard for him to pass it up. Their slot values don't look all that impressive but they might be offered enough to sign. It seems that there might be somewhat of a chance they make it to Btown since they didnt get drafted as high as projected. There is always a lot of thought that needs to go into their decisions, so who knows. I guess we'll know in a couple of weeks. I know IU sure could use them.

@82iugrad What you are saying about Fisher makes sense. The Phillies apparently held some money back to offer Matt more $$$ than what the typical 7th rounder would get.

With Barr, I do wonder. I wonder 3 things:
1.) If Devin Taylor talks to him at all given they got drafted by the same team. He can provide clarity on IU's development program and give him the best inside information possible.
2.) Lefty starters are weird and take a long time to develop. Is college a better environment for him than rookie ball? Maybe. It's easy to get lost in an MLB org.
3.) Despite #2, as another poster said, money talks. Who knows what the A's are offering him. Though, being the A's, IU might actually be able to compete with their offer LOL.
With Fisher, it's quite interesting:
1.) Fisher was ranked very highly in the draft rankings - the reason he fell of course is because he's committed to IU. Some had him mocked as a first round pick.
2.) The Phillies have proven they can develop high school arms, which is scary for Indiana. They can definitely sway Fisher to go pro.
3.) Being a righty, there is less weirdness overall in development. It's just more straightforward.
If I had to predict, I'd say Barr comes to IU and Fisher goes to the Phillies.

@evanalvarez8 Even though I am being greedy and want to see them both in a Hoosier uniform, I would be happy to see at least one of them in Btown. Barr would seem to be more likely but who knows.
