@kkott scootchie wasn’t playing for Superbet and I wasn’t there to see it.   Tamar was a badass in the Bahamas and I saw a future pro.  The old Cavanagh was right :).  Hope the new one is wrong.

ok dad.  Pound sand.  I don't take orders from you.  You don't like what I post don't read it. But do not tell me how to think ... beating paltry teams in PR isn't anything to write home about.  You want to find a snowflake  in it be my guest. Not here.  I look at the realistic outlook of this team. I see thus far a team that is not to the caliber I want my Alma mater to have. Will they get there within DD's tenure.  We will see but I will not drink the kool aid at this point.  Don't care what he did at Drake or WV. Cause it wasn't a hell of a whole lot. I want to be one the "Premier" programs in college basketball again... not an excuse train

book is still open....

@hoosiers94 so you're going to sit back with your arms folded and bitch, until the team is the caliber you want? As I've said many times, DeVries wasn't really even a name I thought about since he'd just taken the WVU job, and I thought it was a weird hire, but I like most everything he's done since coming here, and I know the WVU folks were upset to lose him. Of course this team's not where anyone wants, but there are plenty of positives to see, and it doesn't make you a sunshine pumper to acknowledge that. All you've done is complained and picked nits, when no one expected perfection on an exhibition trip in August. MSU took an exhibition trip to Spain last year, and lost to a Serbian pro team, before winning the B10 and making an E8 appearance.

I don't know what to expect out of this team in the coming season, but it was good to see that we are going to play modern basketball, have a coach who isn't surly or hyper and sounds reasonable in interviews, a team that is resilient and doesn't give up, a couple freshmen that played better than expected, and guys who play together and found a way to win.

PS, I'm not even on your lawn.

I agree with your points about DD compared to Bigfoot.  That's great, one issue solved. If Woody had won I wouldn't have cared about his system or how he conducted himself (within reason )... DD hasn't won anything yet.. when he does I'll give him a lot of slack ..

am I jaded , you bet.  Been one too many times that I've sipped the kool aid coming from Bloomington and been burned.  I'm not walking into any game at this point pumping the proverbial IU chest ... win a few that count and win them in a fashion that shows me it's for real and I'm in... so until then yes I will pick apart the faults.
what do I like or am encouraged by:

1. His , DD that is , demeanor seems cool and confident. A little quirky but I definitely like him. Big improvement from Archie and woody

2.  Some of the players he has brought in thus far I like ... very early to tell on most of them but ...Bailey, Wilkerson and Connerway.. like them a lot.

3. his system is way more modern and pertinent to recruiting and being competitive in today's game.  No doubt. I hated woodys

4 there thus far seems to be more effort and integrity in the program .. and accountability.. it takes a team to win. I don't feel woodys teams played together well at all. Especially last years debacle.

5. like the attention to overseas recruits. Don't need them all to be but 1-2 here and there I think makes for a well rounded roster.  They deliver a different type of tempo which I love

6 keeping Sisley.  Like this kid for many reasons. Not sure it was real hard to convince him to stay.. if at all from reports. But this kid think will be a great IU basketball player. I think he's a 4 year player IMO.

But in the end they haven't won a thing yet.  So it's all just pleasantries at this point. Are they all good people, I'm sure they are but that's not what we are talking about here

@cavanagh I'm not going to give Tamar credit for "making it in the NBA" because he signed a free agent deal with an NBA team. Although I understand if you do. Did Dakota Mathias make it in the NBA? If he actually gets a contract and is on an NBA bench for an entire season, that to me is "making it in the NBA"... you know, like Romeo has.

For anyone interested, Zach Osterman gives his PR review beginning around the 20 minute mark. The prior 20 is getting him caught up on the football happenings while he as in PR. Nothing groundbreaking really, but he does agree on what most of us read in the tea leaves: LW and TD are likely to be our 2 best players even with TD struggling w his shooting, Conerway was good, the 2 freshmen performed well and Alexis was good.
