Nah, can’t defend. Not very athletic. He’s a telephone pole.
@tammany he can defend. He showed it in very, very short bursts on rare occasions. He needs a coach that will teach him what good defense looks and feels like…and then is willing to demand it out of him, to the point of not playing him when he plays like a fence post.
Woodson, I suspect, didn’t teach him much of anything. And just gave up trying to hold him accountable for his fence post play.
He won’t play a second of regular season minutes in the league until he figures out how to play harder, more consistently.
@iunorth Yea, he could defend in college, but I'm not sure if he has the physical gifts to deal with NBA athleticism.
And yea, the basics like consistent effort need to be coached into him.
We'll see. I'm glad he's gone for a lot of reasons.
