@bigmike I don’t think we have met, but man you seem like a very smart guy. Nice to meet ya Mike.
@cavanagh Long time lurker on the other site. Have enjoyed reading the posts by you and others over the years. Will subscribe and support the guys that are doing some good on Hoosier Huddle. Am an old IU grad enjoying the retirement life with the wife up in Holland, Mi.
@bigmike Nice, I am further north than you right now. In Traverse City for the cherry festival. Love this area. Pure Mich!
Wasn't Romeo a first round pick? I didn't notice Bates getting drafted.
I will never understand the need to run Langford down.
Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Put me in that camp as well. That kid was a prolific producer in High School. Burger Boy, Mr Basketball. 35 pts, 10 reb, 3.7 ast, 3 steals and 3 blocks per game his senior year and 30/9 overall. Top 5 all time scoring in Indiana High School history. People complain he couldn't shoot, but the kid had a 55% overall FG%, 35% from 3 and 71% from the FT. He came to IU and played under Archie Fecking Miller when he could've played anywhere for anybody. Big 10 Freshman of the Year and 2nd Team all Big 10 in his lone season here. He left for the NBA lottery, not for another coach or program. People dragging that kid is a travesty.
He's one of ours damn it, a home grown Hoosier through and through.
A good friend will bail you out of jail, but your best friend will be sitting next to you in the cell saying "that was f***ing awesome"
@all4you I just prefer winners, good teammates, and guys that die for the love of the game. To each their own
@all4you Without a doubt Langford was a tremendous high school basketball player and deserved all the accolades at that level. He just couldn't shoot well enough to make it in the NBA. Reality is very few make it to the NBA. It's not easy. Ask Steve Alford. He had a shorter pro career than Romeo.
If my memory is correct, Steve Alford's defense or lack thereof was an issue. I don't think (probably should have looked it up...) that he shot 3's at as good a percentage either. The few times that I actually saw him in the game, he looked really slooow...
So slow, he actually looked lost or indecisive.
Tamar isn't as athletic but definitely better shooter.
@zekeus too slow indeed. He was the perfect specimen for the RMK motion offense. Was never going to translate well for him in the league

You realize that Langford played all year for IU with a hand injury (on his shooting hand) that required surgery and actually hurt his draft stock by playing for the Hoosiers.
He was advised to have the surgery instead of playing college basketball and then to prepare for the NBA draft and there is absolutely no question Langford would have gone significantly higher than he already did had NBA teams not seen Romeo struggle to shoot the basketball for IU.
Langford was still a top 2 player at IU that year. I'm not exactly sure what you wanted from the kid.
You realize the only reason he got drafted in the lottery was the excuse of the hand. You know, they thought his hand was why he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He is out of the league because Danny and Brad didn't read my posts. Wasn't the hand, he is a shitty shooter, and no motor to match.@all4you I just prefer winners, good teammates, and guys that die for the love of the game. To each their own

From Wikipedia: “Langford, who was ESPN's No. 1 shooting guard in the Class of 2018 and Indiana's Gatorade Player of the Year, played one college season in his home state at Indiana University. Langford tore a ligament in his thumb in late November at IU, but continued to play through the injury. Langford was named Big TenFreshman of the Week four times. He averaged 16.5 points per game, the highest among Big Ten freshmen and the third highest all-time among Indiana University freshmen, behind Eric Gordonand Mike Woodson.”
Langford far from sucked at IU and even with a torn ligament in his shooting hand, he was the best player on IU’s team and finished second team All-Big 10. Freshman of the week 4 times? Averaged over 16 ppg and Tamar Bates, who couldn’t even start at IU was better? Have you been drinking your breakfast?
Sure, the NBA thing didn’t work out for him because Langford wasn’t a good enough shooter, just like Jalen Hood-Schifino, TJD, etc but Langford gave IU all he had and was a very good player, just like JHS, during his short time in Bloomington.
The hate for him is laughable.
