…he’s done. I know people are gonna say this is a massive over-reaction, but sometimes a game comes along (think Indiana State in Archie Miller’s first year or Illinois in Woodson’s last year) that is a perfect crystallization of a hard truth/reality that we’ve been in denial about. That reality here is that we once again hired a guy who is completely out of his depth. This was a disgrace today…
You can tell early on if a coach is going to succeed. Their team either plays with effort and intelligence or not.
Poor offensive game plan, no ball movement and nothing inside 15 feet.
Defensively, poor help defense. Poor defensive footwork individually.
That one was very disappointing and a headscratcher as too how they could look unprepared after recent losses.
I said before the game that this would be the first one that would make DeVries feel heat if he lost. At this point it looks like a Hoiberg style rebuild if they have to go get a whole new team next year.
@tr32 It’s not even about the loss, for me. That was the least of it…
IU has not been relevant in basketball for many years. In the last 9 years, Indiana has made only 2 NCAA Tournaments. Unless some miracle happens, make that mark 2 out of the last 10 years. In contrast, Michigan State has a streak of 27 consecutive trips to the tournament.
The glory of football will only be shielding the ineptitude of basketball for a few more days. When attention turns to hoops, this could get ugly ... fast.
Could have been talking about Tucker too! He has been terrible in B10 play.
We need to invoke a famous IU saying, to get the mojo back.

Help is on the way!

It's not at all been saying the same thing for months now. He can't get it done. He has the personality of a door knob. No charisma. No leadership skills. Talent evaluation is terrible. No adaptation. No in game adjustments. And rose colored glasses when it comes to his son's worth. Clean house, again.
Look at this roster to start ... just because someone won league mvp in the sun belt doesn't mean they translate to big ten ball
Lamar.. decent. Streaky. Somewhat consistemt but not enough. Can't get separation against good teams or disciplined teams or players with reach. Limited he's a role player when the others are doubled he knocks it down. We don't have anyone who should be doubled
Tucker : slow as molasses in January. poor decision maker. Disappears every game for several minutes if not entire halves
Connerway: inconsistent and weak. Strength to get through traffic consistently whether to dish or finish. Good one game terrible the next. Hair makes him looks like a stoner which maybe he is and that explains a lot.
Bailey: weak. Tissue weak. Would not recruit that kind even to my sons AAU team.
Miles: why he's in the team have no idea
Dorn: project. Role player at best.
Alexis: why do we want him if Florida didn't. You can see. Weak hands and arm strength
Harris: couldn't tell obviously
just poor talent evaluation. Why did we have to go to plan D or E as Seyton said. ??? Charisma is part of it.
With every successive coaching hire you think this is rock bottom. But it never is. It can and has always gotten worse.
Never thought Id be pining for the halcyon days of Tom Crean.
This team is very Tom Creany. Wild fast offense and awful defensively.
I can't get over the very real possibility that if we had just canned Woody a year earlier.... Dusty May would be our head coach and we'd be a top-5 team as we speak. That's the story of IU basketball this century- a day late and a dollar short.
The basketball season ended before the football season.
