In fishing the saying is, “one is a fluke and two is a pattern.” Playing down to competition, standing around on offense, and getting killed on the glass are becoming a theme for this team.
@curtdog man, I miss fluking off montauk. I digress, but yeah I want to see if they play UP to KSU.
I didn't know a lot about Coach DeVries, but I knew he won a lot of games. And so I knew he would instill a culture of rebounding. Defense, as well as team scoring
Coach said many times that we will see in the games what they value, because he has drills for what he believes are the most important things and they run them every practice. Because then the team knows too and does it
Terrifying that Coach apparently believes rebounding is inconsequential. Because we don't try very hard at it I can't believe we run any drills
But I won't complain if we outscore everybody anyway.

Got the wrong article in here?
If the money guys don't get buckets, this is a soft and very average team. There are deficiencies, and they will be exposed. I also think there will be more games than not where the dudes make shots.
I didn't love Lamar moping around because shots weren't falling. He gets paid to make shots and he should act like a pro. He seems like a great kid. I want him to be a killer and not frustrated by missing some shots in a game like tonight's.
I still think we are a month away of worrying or being optimistic. Kansas State should be fun. Can't wait.
What a baffling regression the last two games.
Need to upgrade the level of the cupcake portion in future seasons to keep the team engaged. Not like football where an extra loss knocks you out. Even the crowd enthusiasm sounded forced tonight.
I don't know If I'd say 'outlasts'. More kike struggled to put them away. The scoreless first 6 minutes by Lindenwood was nice but IU has to better on the boards. That is something that can be taught but it'll take time. Not sure if it's a lack of ability or engagement due to the amount of cupcakes.
@auburnhoosier Rebounding is a major issue. In the next few weeks we'll definitely have a far better assessment on rebounding after games against KSU, Louisville, Kentucky and two Big 10 opponents. What greatly troubles me is the players are senior collegiate players with much game experience. I expect far more than I'm seeing.
Nothing broken being more physical won't make better. I don't think we've seen 1 charge in the last 2 maybe 3 games. Same with getting beat out for loose balls. Halfhearted "want to" isn't maximum effort. Cowboy Up, basketball IS a physical sport. Intimidate, dictate, dominate, conquer. Got to believe Devries sees the same things with even with more depth. KSU contest will reveal much.
@hoosier-clarion I too am looking forward to the KSU game as it will provide many challenges. PJ Haggerty, one of the top scorers in the nation could be a major problem. As Conerway is supposedly a great defender, PJ may be his assignment. Also wanting to see if DeVries is able to make adjustments to get the players out of this recent funk. He comes across fairly positive in the after game pressers but can't be pleased in what he's seeing.
@bigmike Don't see how anyone else but Connerway will be on him. Might be a little too much for Enright, but guessing he'll be helping on him. I've also been impressed at times with Wilkerson's D and he might have a better body to defend him. Haven't seen them a lick, but listening to Assembly Calls preview, sounds like they like to get up and down the floor and can be loose with the ball and not super defensive minded. Sounds like an appealing matchup to me for a better P4 team. Rather than 1 stocked with athletes who defend like their life depends on it. Should be lots of open shots out there, at least if that's accurate.
@kkott I would guess we'll run our normal defense against them... which will involve some switching and rotational type stuff. Conerway will guard him a lot, as will Enright, Wilkerson, and then even guys like Sisley and Bailey will end up switching on to him at times. He's a tough cover. Guys like him its important that you just make it difficult for them. If he gets 25, that's o.k., as long as its inefficient, tiring, and frustrating for him.
