For what it's worth...Trent Sisley's father does not agree with the rumor. He says Trent will be returning to IU. I'd trust him over any rumor (including ones I post, particularly when I include the RUMOR disclaimer).

@hoosiers94 He tried to build this team around his overrated son.

That is why i put basically no stock in portal rankings. He was ranked #18 and Bailey was like # 35.

We need difference makers. There are a million guys we can sign to warm the bench.

Same for Dorn. He had a nice 3 game run but that was it all season. He's making way too much money to justify it, so he either accepts a lower amount or will need to leave.

If guys are willing to stay for less, great, but there's no point in paying them big money if they can't contribute every game.

There were people pretty high on the transfers he brought in last summer if I recall.  I never understood why maybe just trying to be positive but a group of mid majors was likely never ever going to get it done. Like you said you need studs at least DD does to win. Not a one of these guys should get a raise and if they are not willing to take less they should leave imo.

If DeVries keeps a couple guys from the current roster they may well need to take pay cuts so that there is enough money to get some difference makers. Seems like a smart allocation of the budget.

A few were touting Enright... I never understood that one, except for barely buying the 'he knows Coach's systems' stuff.

The only others I remember much positive on were Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries. Conorway. Everybody else, the board was full of doubters. And TD wasn't near as advertised. Some were touting him as a future NBA sharpshooter... 🙁

So while there were people high on the transfers, it didn't feel like a lot. We all had concerns, mainly, 'where is our athletic size?' But, many of us did try to be positive. I actually liked our showing in Puerto Rico. Thought we showed promise. Seemed like a couple of those guys didn't play again all season.

I recall people being pretty darn excited after PR and talking about the modern offense, etc. Maybe it was not on here but reading articles online the comments had glowing reviews about this team.  In the back of my head I just did not see how a bunch of mid majors were going to be a serious threat in the big ten unless DD was one heck of a great coach. Then beating Marquette made it look like hey maybe they are good but it turned out it was because Marquette was just awful.

I thought with enough 3 point volume, this mid-major squad could do it.

Trouble is one sharpshooter really wasn't, a couple other sharpshooters not at all. And our guard play, very weak. I had doubts on Enright but I didn't expect a guy that would never score.

So I was wrong... Predicted 10-10 but thought better was very possible. Instead, our 9 wins that we did get were the weak teams. UCLA on the road was good, Purdue at home was good. Not much else.

I think I predicted 8-12 after seeing some of the preseason. Like the last nine years the most exciting part of IU bbal is the offseason. The seasons themselves are not very enjoyable.

Cincy fires coach.  Would there be interest in Thiam if he enters portal?  I'd have to think yes.

Soon number of postings on this topic will blow up as announcements start coming in on players leaving the IU program (there will be a few) and info on  possible roster players from the portal (expect next week a few players not participating in the tournament will communicate their intent to enter the portal).

Wilkerson would be the only one I'd really want to keep if he had any eligibility left. Since he doesn't, any of the others I'd trade for improvements.

@openwheel Wisconsin at home. The frustrating thing is ALL we needed to do was beat Northwestern one time and in the two shots we had and we couldn’t do it.

IU's season is over and the rumor mill will now kick into overdrive. I'm not going to repeat everything I see/hear/am told but I will post things that I am able to verify have some credibility. This post serves as a recap for potential outgoings and guys that there COULD be mutual interest as incomings:

OUTGOING: we know that Lamar Wilkerson, Tucker DeVries, Tayton Conerway, Reed Bailey, Sam Alexis and Conor Enright are out of eligibility. I think Trent Sisley is returning but that is not a guarantee. There is a possibility that one or two others join him but at most, I think the number is three returning players (I'd set the betting total at 2.5 and take the UNDER).

INCOMING: we know that Trevor Manhertz, Vaughn Karvala and Prince Alexander-Moody will be joining the program (three top 80 recruits). I think it is VERY likely that IU adds another freshman and it will come in the form of an international big man. Sayon Keita is one to know and he's fun! Narcisse Ngoy is another in-demand big fella. Having two international guys brought in (of a much higher level than Ristic and Acimovic) would not be a surprise but we'll go with one for this exercise. That leaves 4 freshmen and 2 returnees meaning there would be 7 portal spots to fill to reach 13 scholarship players.

Players with potential mutual interest IF they enter:

Guards: Colby Garland (San Jose State), Finley Bizjack (Butler), Darren Harris (Duke), Brett Decker Jr. (Liberty), Michael Cooper (Wright State), Adam "Budd" Clark (Seton Hall), Amari Evans (Tennessee), Jackson Shelstad (Oregon)

Wings: Tre Singleton (Northwestern), Sam Orme (Belmont), Elyjah Freeman (Auburn), Kevin Overton (Auburn)

Bigs: Owen Freeman (Creighton/Iowa), Oswin Erhunmwunse (Providence), Eric Reibe (UConn), Luke Wilson (Appalachian State), J.P. Estrella (Tennessee)

The portal officially opens on April 7 but you better believe that business is being done NOW. Darian DeVries faces a critical second season in Bloomington and there's a ton of work to be done to ensure IU is included in next season's NCAA Tournament bracket.

Is IU going to have the NIL budget to build a good roster? I know it was discussed that the big boosters held back last year because they were upset Woodson was let go.
