With our schedule this year, this team better be a lot better than a 7 seed! My gawd- we play all the good teams at home, all the lesser teams on the road, and have h and h w mediocre teams. If this team does t finished the year with less than 9 losses time to move on w coach
The schedule reminds me of the year crean went 15-3 in the big ten and still only got a four seed. The big ten schedule was very easy just like this year is. There is really zero excuse other than major injuries they should not win at least 14 big ten games with that schedule
@kkott I think its obvious the budget was considerably bigger this year, than it was last year. So CDD might have already made the demands to increase it. I think the current situation is more a question of how flexible the stakeholders are, and how willing Dolson and/or CDD are, to push past whatever the budget was planned for.
Hypothetical numbers... but if you can spend 15 million on 12 guys, that very likely make you a better team... Stands to reason you can, and should figure out how to... spend 17 million on 13 guys that virtually guarantees it. Because as much better as this team appears to be, on paper... they're one Sherrell and/or Yiggy injury away from some tough issues to overcome. Adding one more capable tall guy, at a minimum, is an insurance policy against that. And at maximum, it elevates us up in competitiveness levels.
I need a screen saver of Coach Norman Dale pointing behind him to his six guys and saying "this is your team".
Going to Peru to represent the USA with one true big should give our frosh and Sisley plenty of PT in the presumed 6 games which is probably a good thing.
Fill me in, why would we only go with one of our bigs?Going to Peru to represent the USA with one true big should give our frosh and Sisley plenty of PT in the presumed 6 games which is probably a good thing.
This isn't the Olympics. Our TEAM is representing the United States as a participant. The international players are all playing with us.Fill me in, why would we only go with one of our bigs?Going to Peru to represent the USA with one true big should give our frosh and Sisley plenty of PT in the presumed 6 games which is probably a good thing.
They are not American.
@gros-louis That's incorrect. The international players are NOT allowed to play in this exhibition since the team is representing the US. I believe it was TJ that had a good write up on this a week or so back. They can still travel and practice during the trip, but not play in the games. So we'll only have 1 trug big in Peru.

Just like my playing style at the Hper, no blood, no foul.

Hearing the internationals couldn't play was one reason when this was announced I thought this thing was cheezy.
Either our team can play or it can't. Indiana University isn't 'locals only'. Nor are other Universities.
If you are running a tournament based on country, aka your own regional mini-Olympics, then work with groups that want to get a team together in that manner. Don't glom onto a system that is entirely different, just to feather your own nest.
But, at least the team gets some fun travel. Seems far too early to affect the season, but that might be the best part.

Might be a 'short notice, take the best situation' kind of thing. And I am 99.9% certain the staff will value the practice time far more than the games played. But the games will, without a doubt, color the opinions of the fans that pay attention, one way or another.Hearing the internationals couldn't play was one reason when this was announced I thought this thing was cheezy.

@openwheel I have to think the motivations for nearly all these summer foreign trips are 1)the extra practices 2)team bonding time traveling overseas 3)Game experiences... and its likely in that specific order, for most programs.
