That rule is still unclear to me, but I think you can call timeout if your feet (or one foot??) are/is on the ground ... even if you're falling out of bounds. And now they allowed MIA player to call TO while going out of bounds. I thought they outlawed that?
I thought he was totally up in the air when the made the signal and got the call. BICBW.
@unclemark Can't do it. I can agree with you on all the reasons why, but still can't/won't do it.
hate to see that kid on the floor though. Hope it's just hyperextended.

Understood. I've just never developed the deep abiding hate of all things Boiler. Even my folks, both IU grads and big IU sports fans, were known to root for them when they weren't playing Indiana.
I didn't see the play, so it was just an assumption on my part. In any case, college refs aren't the best, so it wouldn't surprise me if granting the timeout was incorrect.I thought he was totally up in the air when the made the signal and got the call. BICBW.

The other thing I've noticed throughout the tourney is the number of moving screens, many just blatant, that go uncalled.
I actually think the women's game is called better than the men's.
I’m pulling for PU today solely for the sake of my bracket and a parlay bet I’ve got. Absent that, I’d prefer they lose every game they play. Watch them lose this one today. When you actually want them to win that’s usually the kiss of death…
You're spot-on. You know how current/former NFL players say holding could be called on every play? I think the same could be said for illegal screens in college hoops. The other thing I've noticed throughout the tourney is the number of moving screens, many just blatant, that go uncalled.

Switching gears a bit, I wonder what would happen if traveling (palming the ball) was actually called by the letter of the law. It's probably good it's not ... games would last three hours with 50 turnovers.
Smith is one of the all time college basketball greats and deserves the plaudits. The media tends to neglect pointing out that it took Smith 6 more games to break Hurley's record.Congrats to Braden Smith for being the assist leader in college basketball. I was hoping he would get the record and then PU would lose the game but it wasn't meant to be.
Lamar Wilkerson broke Don Schlundt's scoring record for a Big 10 season, 464 to 459 but had 2 more conference games to do so. I most greatly appreciate all of Lamar's accomplishments but I get miffed by a media that fails to fully tell the whole story.
Apologies for my grouchiness today. Got this game / record issue on my mind as it bugs me.

That shot of Painter's wife, did anyone else have a split second WTF, Sarah Palin reaction?

Do you think any Purdue fans were rooting for IU in the CFB playoffs? Of course not. Those people are all pathological in their hatred of IU. Worst scumbags on Earth. Being mentally ill is a requirement to attend that university.

Can always count on gradman for a sober, sensible take.
Miami couldn't put a smile on my face today, but at least Iowa State will.

@iugradman Look, we all don't like Purdue, but come on man. I also knew a handful of Purdue fans who were pulling for IU
