@iunorth I was going to bet the under, but got caught up in the WBC and missed tip
Yes. They deserved the honor of being seeded straight in.Making Miami (OH) go through this play-in bullshit is criminal.
Then again, they made the 11 seeds play in the play in game. The lowest 'at large' seeds. Strictly a cash grab.
I get tired of the grubbing for every last dime... Versus straight competition.
Then someone will say 'but you appreciate the broadcasts, having it on TV, that takes money!' . Yeah, sort of. I'm fine with a student stream and their local radio feed if thats all that can be afforded. Dickie V and and Chuckie B didn't add anything for me.
,
@unclemark….and I still can’t figure out how all of the people in the selection room looked at St.John’s as a 5 seed and UConn as a 2 and agreed on it. Zero common sense.
i agree. Perhaps it's personal.. maybe they don't like Pitino
@thenickeldimer head scratcher for sure. UConn's metrics are a little better, but certainly not 3 seeds better. The last time the two teams played, UConn thumped them... but that game seems like an anomaly, to me. I'm sure Duke wasn't overly happy to see St John's as a 5 seed in their region.
The NCAAT has lost much of its luster for me, whether IU is in it or not. Pre-Portal, I could name at least three starters on most teams seeded 1 thru 5. Now, I'm not sure I could do so for any team outside the B1G.

My recollection (I'm happy to be corrected) is that the "First Four" idiocy is the result of a year some time ago when there were a bunch of bid stealers and some deserving teams didn't make the tournament. Rather than fix how the committee deals with "automatic qualifiers," they just added this abomination and no one has been willing to admit the mistake and do away with it.
Alright the best two days in college basketball are here! Which games are we most excited to watch in the first round?

Looking forward to STL/GA tonight. Louisville and SF should be a good one as UL is without Brown. VCU/UNC could be an upset. UK/Santa Clara and Iowa/Clemson tomorrow.
Which high seed will take down Purdue?
I think they play well, get to the Arizona game, and lose a close one. This feels like the year they lost in the last seconds of the elite eight.
I like MSU' draw, especially with the Duke injury. They could make it to the FF. If they do, I think they lose soundly, as they are still a flawed team.
Michigan may make it to the FF, but no NC, as the injury to Cason really hurts them, imo.
I'm not claiming these are the best Thursday games, but the following matchups entice me the most...
- Wisconsin*/High Point
- Vandy/McNeese*
- UNC/VCU*
- BYU/Texas*
I only bet when I have some level of confidence, so I didn't enter the contest on here. True, it's only $10, but I would never light a tenski on fire (which is essentially what I would be doing).
Good luck to everyone. (If, however, you have Purdue going to the F4, I wish you nothing but bad luck.)
TCU and Ohio State is one of four games taking place in beautiful Greenville, South Carolina...I live about 15 minutes from Bon Secours (site of the games). Fun start between the Buckeyes and Horned Frogs.
Some grumbling that SMU might have been helped in being one of the last 4 in by giving rosy aka false reports on one of their top players being ready to return from injury. He didn't play vs. Miami. It was great to see Miami (OH) win. Would love to see them beat Tennessee too.

All Big Ten team games intrigue me along with BYU, Arkansas and Houston.
@hoosiers94 Ohio State is getting spanked. Nebraska looks good
