IU has strong competition from UK, Michigan, Arkansas, NC , NC State and Duke.

My early read on this new site…. I probably should have posted this in the Off Topic Board. Seems most on here are more interested in posting and reading there. Over half of the top 40 posts on the recent posts first page are off topic. What's up with that?

I kind of thought this was big news… just quickly checked and Peegs, The Daily Hoosier and even On3/The Hoosier all have it on their front pages. Just kind of curious why it didn’t get any coverage or even postings here.

@red-x Keep in mind this site originally focused solely on football, and has branched into other sports over time. I consider it a work in progress and am fine with that.
However … we have capable & knowledgeable posters here on basketball matters, and look forward to their comments. Maybe they’re in summer hibernation mode.
I’ll just say the obvious: we’re up against stiff competition for this guy. Back in the day I would have said I liked our chances. Now? Not so much.

Peegs.com and its successors were always basketball oriented sites, with football being an afterthought. And they never paid a price, being that IU has always been a basketball school and the football program historically has been so poor. I appreciate that these guys are all in on football, but they're not stoopid -- they're not going to ignore basketball if they hope to have a successful IU sports site. The lack of reporting on a new prospect who may or may not actually end up here shouldn't be taken as a sign of how they will operate going forward.

We're in the off-season for both major sports. Football board is starting to get more active but we're still almost two months out.
Is Top 7 really newsworthy? I'll pay attention if IU becomes Top 1.

@red-x First, thanks for posting about Muurinen on the board. There is a thread called 2026 High School Recruiting that I have tried to keep as an evergreen thread that is updated every few days with new information. I should have put something about Muurinen on there.
Second, Muurinen is a really good prospect. He's a modern big guy. Moves like a guard, shoots it well and is very skilled. He burst onto the scene last summer and is rightfully a top 15 prospect.
Third, yes, IU made his top seven and is a "finalist" but I don't consider IU a contender. He was not on my hot board and I think IU would have to pass a number of other schools to even be a threat for the commitment. Now, if IU gets an official visit, it'd be worth paying more attention to.
As of right now, I'd focus more on Latrell Allmond, Anthony Thompson, Arafan Diane, Ethan Taylor, Jordan Smith Jr., Deron Rippey Jr. and Aiden Derkack.
As far as the criticism about the overall lack of coverage for IUBB...I do plan on being the primary person for this site covering the IUBB season and we have high hopes for how that coverage will look. Recruiting though, that is something that is admittedly, a work in progress. Again, thanks for pointing it out and have a good one!
