@surjay As fans the best result to hope for would be a surprising Sweet 16 victory in the NCAA tourney which could result in donors investing more money in the basketball program. Some donors may then have confidence that DeVries is the man to get the job done. Lose this week to USC and Wisconsin and the situation will gain turn ugly.
I would agree. If we make it to the S16 in year one. The money will flow in. That's a big IF.
This thread is like a Think Tank...without any thinking.
Agreed. This should be a no criticism/negativity zone so snowflakes can feel warm and fuzzy. This thread is like a Think Tank...without any thinking.
Now we whine about people not applauding whining? Sounds as entitled as being upset (apparently) that we aren't a powerhouse in Coach's first year. More whining threads, yes, that's what we need.
My low point was after the Iowa game. Wanted to see all the bench players who had more years left. But then was encouraged by the Michigan game. Much more encouraged after three wins.
It'll be rocky going forward. No quick fix.
Oh shit, I had better delete this, soon to be posts offended about sunshine pumping!
@dbmhoosier I can't put in to words how glad I am he isn't our coach. All this macho bullchit is his attempt to mask that he isn't all that great a basketball coach, and is struggling to figure out today's players.

I was with him until he went back at him after the throw away "You should take it" and that smug smile. He should have stopped there with the W, but he had to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and revisit the question with the "Do you really think I care?" and the "Are you raising your voice at me?".
The reporter could have followed up by asking him why he seemed to care after saying he didn't, and really made it uncomfortable for Cronin, but who knows how precarious a position he's in with his credentials at that point.

Cut Cronin some slack. Christmas is only 10 months away, and that little elf is stressed.
Still a better coach than DD, though.

Yet somehow lost to Devries on his home court with what is likely a superior roster.
Cronin had a 16-17 record in his 5th year of building a program at UCLA?
We can hope DeVries never learns to coach like Mick.
Oh, and he beat him this year too, on the road.

@gthomas Hes definitely had some very solid teams...both at Cincy and UCLA. But I'm not sure he could be good enough for me to be able to stomach his fake macho/gangster schtick he has going.
