@hoosiers94 Does DeVries run a lot of sets and actions for Lamar?  Of do you care to watch games that intently or deeply?  The answer to the first question is yes, like A LOT.  And when Lamar has success, which is often, DeVries essentially becomes his cheerleader on the sidelines.  This entire conversation was about recruiting the portal, and what DeVries has done this year to attract elite portal players.  My contention is how he's coached Lamar, and the success Lamar has had, will attract other elite scoring wing prospects.  This isn't hard.  You veer off and say "he would have done that anywhere", and stuff like that.  Its not a given he would have, 1... and 2 it doesn't really matter anyways... he has the tape, and Lamar's stats and highlights to sell.

Now, just so you can feel comfortable, I think he's going to struggle selling his IU program to PGs and Bigs.  So to Cav's point, he'll probably have to overpay for really good impactful PG and/or bigs.

He will most certainly have to overpay. If Kansas and IU are offering the same money guess where the player is picking. You will have to outbid them. A team like BYU had to overpay too but hey had more money than god which we likely will not have.

@openwheel Can it be as simple as shortening the bench towards the end of the season, especially under mounting pressure with each loss pushing us into bubble territory and each game becoming more important?

Yeah, thats what I was meaning with - coach put his team out to try to win games.

But that's not working; it seems the shortened bench has been a negative. Hard to argue otherwise.

How would we know? Because we lost games?

Uh, that is an indicator, no?

With a shorter bench comes fatigue, and IU has wilted in many 2nd halves. That's not a coincidence.
