Sad how little interest there is. Only a handful in this thread and the live chat has two of us.

A game against Rutgers isnt going to generate much interest right now. Iu has shown it can beat the bottom third of the big ten but they will have to start winning games against the top half to increase people's interest.

It's lowly Rutgers, but a B1G road win is always a positive. Unfortunately, things will deviate to the norm on Tuesday.

I'll take a win.  Finally.  Even if it's against s a team we should beat by 20.

and as mentioned Tuesday things will once again go the other way.

Good win.  Beat Purdue and maybe things can turn around.  Shooting and rebounding were very good tonight.

I'm not judging. I lay down for a nap knowing full well the game was at 6:00 and that I might miss some or all of it... and I didn't care. Was actually shocked when I tuned in with 6 minutes to go in the 1st half. I know RU isn't much good, but still... the team I saw tonight was what I was hoping for all season.

Indiana has shown it can beat the dregs of the conference and stink against the upper level teams. They are what they are-mediocre.

@thehoosierhuddle not really the win/losses, I just am tired of all the complaining and fire coach posts-20 games in and this place already similar to the old site with Woodson!

And yes, I was a huge part of the fire woody crowd AFTER a couple seasons- not 20 games in

I don't think anyone said fire him right now but we just had eight or really nine straight years of crap basketball people are not super jazzed about saying just give him three or four years to get things going . Woodson had maybe one decent year but got blown out in the ncca. Football winning big also will make people want success right away. Its just the way it is now and the only thing that will change it is when you start beating teams like purdue and michigan

@arioznahoosier4554 My fear is that he'll do just enough to keep his job for several years. It's just such a meh hire when the program needed a jolt. The Hoosiers needed a winner with charisma, not White Woody.

Ftr, I don't think he's a bad coach at all ... but I do think he's not ideal for Indiana. WVU was his ceiling.

I could not watch the game in real time but tried to keep an eye on the score on my phone. Glad to see we appear to have finally had a decent game. Always good to come away from Piscataway with a W, it's been years since we did that, even granting that Rutgers isn't great this year. I remember their trolls on the old board coming over and stinking the place up.

Purdue is going to be a huge test, hope we take some momentum into that game and have a good crowd in SSAH for the rivalry.

Here is my issue when they fired crean they said they wanted someone to compete for national championships so they went out and hired archie  who was not proven at a high level. Might as well have kept crean honestly.  Yes DD can probably do ok like I think Fran at Iowa did but probably not much more. Maybe I just need to accept it but I saw Sampson come in and win right away. The second year he was like 22-3 before shit came out and they canned him. He was cooking and its pointless to argue the guys he brouht in etc  but he went to a nobody houston school and is killing it. The fact is really good coaches win right away they dont need three years, especially in the nil era.

To me the type of guy IU needed was a guy like Chris Beard but too many complained about his past, etc and how he isnt doing that great this year. But he has the personality and at IU I think he would have done great. I would have said May but they already screwed that one up.

I hear you Mark.   Look at these game day threads.  How many times have they started off by saying that it was a huge game?  Unfortunately, our must win games are games we cannot afford to lose against bottom feeders.  It says all you need to know about this program.  Our huge games aren’t when we play a top 10 team, they are games against B10 teams that won’t even make the NIT.

As a program the only W/L drama each season is where we will end up insofar as the bubble goes.  We are stuck in a Time Machine.  It’s tough to be excited about a program where the ceiling is making the tourney and winning a game, and the floor keeps making new rock bottoms.  How many times have you read that IU has no chance of making the tournament?  It’s an annual thing on these forums.

the real drama as far as IU fan forums only comes about when coaching changes are made.

I really don't think this is a real concern. Woodson was essentially doing that and Dolson would have fired him after year 3 if not for the meddling. That was a legendary former alumni with a ton of backing from alumni and donors.

There's just no way that a DDV type is going to just 'coast' for years without an upward trajectory. Now, we can certainly debate the fine lines of what that trajectory needs to be for Dolson to be 'content' but I imagine its higher than many of us would fear.

His first year as AD coming off of covid and huge financial losses across all sports, Dolson had no problems with firing Archie immediately and then a year or so later fired Allen (a guy who had IU football top 10 at one point).

We can certainly judge Dolson's ability to pick the coach but I think its pretty clear he wants to win and isn't going to be ok with mediocrity.
