The Hoosiers will be resenting the United States in the International University Sports Federation America Games. The games will run from July 20 to August 1 and will be played in Peru.
@bigmike Peru, IN? Looking forward to making a bigger deal out of these games than I should.
Hear it's beautiful that time of year.
Sammy and TJ can fly into Panama and take a mule on down.
Wow. That's an even earlier start than last year.
Not too Googley friendly... Hard to find any information on who the other basketball teams will be.
Cool though, seems good. Have some early games, then still time to rest up for the season. Should help us gel.
I hope it doesn't contribute to mental exhaustion by the end of the season. Will feel as long as an NBA year... We crashed down the stretch last year.
I am going to bet TJ and Sammy will have some more info for us in the next few days.Wow. That's an even earlier start than last year.

Last year, Baylor represented the US and ended up with the silver medal after losing to Brazil.
Not sure what kind of competition will be in Peru for 2026 but last year the Hoosiers whipped Baylor in a pre-season game.
--- Perhaps being in the games will push the staff to complete the roster in the next few weeks. ---
@middawg Can actually drive it, with the right car...Also will be during Big Ten Football Media Days
@bigmike to be clear...Baylor played in the World University Games last season. This event is similar but is only countries in North, Central and South America. The next World University Games are 2027 in South Korea.
Details are scarce but based on some research, FISU is partnered with FIBA and that means international eligibility rules are in effect. That means Turkish international Samet Yigitoglu can travel and practice with the team but he cannot play in the games. Meaning that as of now, IU is down to Aiden Sherrell and Trent Sisley in the frontcourt.
I know both Baylor and Purdue have played in FISU events in previous years and they played with their rosters for the coming season, minus international players and then filled those holes with US-born players that were not on the team for the next season. For instance, maybe someone like Sam Alexis would be willing to play with the team? Tucker DeVries? I'm just throwing out names but they'll need more than nine game-eligible players.
On the broadcast front...the previous events have been streamed on the YouTube channel for FISU and I'd anticipate the same for this year's version. I know the Big Ten has blocks on international events but since the Hoosiers would be representing Team USA, I don't think the Big Ten can do a darn thing to prevent the games from being streamed.
As soon as we have any concrete details, we'll let you know!
From what you are saying, appears there will be less competition than what Baylor faced last season as only the "Americas" will be playing.@bigmike to be clear...Baylor played in the World University Games last season. @bigmike The biggest benefit to any of these international summer tours is the extra organized practice time. The games themselves are almost secondary. Though obviously its almost always good to see where you stand against outside competition. And it gives all of us experts things to overreact about! It'll be great if they are streamed!
@iunorth It would be nice to have a full roster down in Peru simply to get the players all together at one time. The guys would get to travel to a place probably none of them have seen plus get the opportunity to practice with their new teammates.
I sometimes wonder about the relevance of practice games when you have a Division I team go against a Division III. I guess IU does such a game with Marian University. I don't think the Division I team learns much by playing such a game
Seems a little cheesy. But I guess it is good PR and international relations. Maybe the next NBA star will come from Peru and decide to be a Hoosier on his way.
It will be interesting to see how College Summer Ball develops, expands, and gets refined over the next handful of years.
I could envision a time in the near future where we get a European Summer League of College teams where 6-8 teams get together someplace on the Mediterranean for two to three weeks to vacation and play ball.
With the portal as is, they may as well allow these games/trips each year so teams can have some time together. Only makes since they allow teams time to gel and play a few games and practice. I also think if these kids are making this much money, they may as well play a near NBA schedule!
So they are begrudgingly participating and upset they have to play? The Hoosiers will be resenting the United States in the International University Sports Federation America Games. The games will run from July 20 to August 1 and will be played in Peru.
