Karvala in 23 mins: 5 points on 2 for 9 from the field (1 of 7 were from the 3), 3 rebounds and a steal. He plays fairly good defense and doesn't force his shots. I like his game and he may need a year of development to be a contributor.Karvala’s team won the championship game. I only caught the last quarter. Just enough to watch Vaughn brick 3 wide open 3’s. He did play good D though and made a close lay-in. Don’t know much about anything else unless I see a box score.
Karvala's team is loaded with major college prospects. The team leader is Miles Sadler, a smallish 5'10" point guard who will be attending West Virginia. Reportedly, West Virginia has contact with several of the Bella Vista players. I like 7'1" 230 pound Amadou Seini. He had 18 rebounds in the championship game to go along with 15 points.
Can IU get in on Mingo who doesn't seem to be a fit for Malone at UNC and decommitted?
I posted on another thread, but didn’t see any answers. Does anyone have any idea of high school players we are in on? I don’t recall hearing a single name. I know we’ve had all the portal excitement, and the freshmen coming in look to be an upgrade, but we’ve got to start making our moves with the high school kids. I know Purdue is hoping for a commitment from the Pike big soon. Did we recruit him?
@zeke4ahs I'm sure we'll start to hear quite a lot more, fairly soon, on 2027 and 2028 guys DeVries is watching and in on. May is a big month for HS AAU tournaments, and often creates quite a lot of movement recruiting wise. Early May is a "dead period"... but in this day and age, I'm not sure that actually has much of any bearing. There are tons of huge AAU events in April/May... and I'm sure with the portal taking such a huge focus from all the college staffs, in April, that May is becoming much more of a HS recruiting focal point.
We know we have Chase Branham... who is a stud. Isaiah Hill has an IU offer. I'm not nearly as high on him as many others are, but he's obviously talented, and has size and length.
One name I hope DeVries tries to get in with is Kevin Savage. Little PG from Georgia. With Branham projecting to be a lead guard type player in that class, might not make sense for all involved. But Savage is going to be a name everyone is very aware of when he gets to college. Painter offered him.
And, let's keep all the guys we have, such as Chase. A constant battle these days.
@openwheel Good point. He seems pretty locked in to IU. But he has put himself on the cusp of "5 star" status. And things are getting silly with kids rated that high.
Rumored that Ladarius Givan will be visiting Indiana. He decommitted from Mississippi State and if he were to become a Hoosier, the 6’9” player would join the other 3 members of the freshman class.
@bigmike don’t know much about him. If he’s an active, motor, type guy…sign him up!
Id rather us spend on recruits with upside like that. I think... Dont know what they cost, either.

Cal State Fullerton transfer forward Ben Winker is visiting Indiana #iubb
— Mike Schumann @ The Daily Hoosier (@daily_hoosier) May 4, 2026
Winker is 6'10" weight 230. Appeared in only 8 games over the past year so he's a frosh eligibility wise. Played high school ball at Chaminade Prep in St. Louis area.
I dont understand playing 8 games and being a frosh eligibility. I thought any games count as a year? So why isnt he a sophomore?
@openwheel Is that not the limit for a redshirt? Is that not a thing anymore?
BigMike is right if its an injury redshirt. I think, but I wasnt thinking...
Heard here that for basketball it sucks that you cant play any games and redshirt unless you are injured, not like football. So Coach playing Ristic a little cost Ristic a year.

@iunorth Pretty sure HIll is going to PU and likely committing soon ( according to PU and Pike people).
