I'll believe you when our class for next year is loaded because our NIL spend is easily Top 10 or better in the country.
Then, yeah.
But I'm not yet believing the NIL hype. I hope you are right.
I count four single digit loss years in the last 25 . I think it's silly to expect (or hope) next year is one of our top five seasons out of the last 25.
,
Anybody with sense knew it was possible. I called 10-10, and unfortunately was wrong.'24-'25: 19-13, 10-10
'25-'26: 18-13, 9-11 (so far)
I know, Woody had more money to play around with, blah blah blah. But DeVries still had good bank (2nd-highest in the B1G, it seems).
For anyone and everyone: Before you knew the coach or roster, would you have considered a worse record than last season to be acceptable? If so, you are the truest of true fans.
Our 'program' is and was in the dumpster.
I even think for next year, the post saying 'single digit losses' or else the year is a failure, is also off base. Single-digit losses regularly, nearly every year, is the goal and very possible, once or if, DeVries and Dolson can get this train back on the rails.
Next year? Maybe, but single digit losses is a sort of stupid bar for a program that has not done that for ELEVEN YEARS.

this response is the problem with IU basketball. Give em one more year he'll figure it out. Unreasonable to expect that ... nonsense. Single digit losses is not something that is unreasonable in any year. That's 5 more wins... a better coach , who can assemble a better roster and we are there.
Yeah, I've heard you over and over say that's the problem. Not having expectations. Or something like that...this response is the problem with IU basketball. And, I say over and over it's ridiculous to say single digit losses by year two, or we didn't do well. Not that we can't.
As long as you put other schools into 'the athletic department and basketball support or coaching sucks category, fine...
You should slam Kentucky, who didn't do single digit three of the last four years of Calipari, nor the first or second years under Pope. Or slam Ohio State who hasn't done single digit for years. Or slam UCLA who took until year three under Cronin, then after those two years, lost 17 games. And this season didn't do single digit losses. Slam Wisconsin. Although their twice in 10 years means it's expected every year I guess?
But "IT'S INDIANA!" ...
Of course we CAN get to a string of single digit loss seasons. If we do, we're back.
,
But IDGAF about Kentucky, Ohio State, UCLA, Wisconsin, or anyone else. If they hire bad coaches and suck, that's fine.
I'm not convinced that CDD is a bad coach, but I'm not convinced he isn't. Another year is fair, and it will happen regardless, but pretty soon he needs to start demonstrating that he's the guy and not just another IU basketball hire that couldn't get it done.

Yep I could care less about other programs either. I have heard it all over the years.
1. Coach K did not win his first few years.
2. You gotta let him get his recruits in here.
3. You dont know what he inherited and on and on.
The fact of the matter is DD needs to win next year or he will lose what is left of the fan base. He will not get fired because you do not get fired at IU til year four but he will probably have half empty buildings by year three. I noticed vs Michigan State the balcony looked empty and even the lower deck had empty seats.
You really think, for example, three straight 23-9 seasons means IU is back? Back to what, slightly above average?Of course we CAN get to a string of single digit loss seasons. If we do, we're back.

It really is stunning how far we have fallen. Knight basically got run out of town because he was putting up 22-10 records and losing in the first or second round of the NCAA. They will say its because he broke the impossible double secret probation but lets be honest if he was still making final fours they would not have fired him. Now if we went 22-10 many would be doing cartwheels. Amazing fall from grace.
Need the eye roll for some of these. 🤨
Straw man arguments ... that if we aren't at some internet-poster-decreed number of wins and losses immediately, that it means we don't expect championships. Want or expect, are completely different than entitled. As is reality versus wishful thinking.
We're worse than Purdue... Our program was poorly run... Accept the facts. Lets get to that level, then we can win titles again while they continue to miss. Then we can see about Michigan State level runs of sweet 16s, hopefully with more titles.
Are you kidding? How many teams would have a good string of single digit losing seasons? A couple, three? I don't know, not going to go count. You really think, for example, three straight 23-9 seasons means IU is back? Not many.
If we string single digit losing seasons together that likely means teams all capable of deep tourney runs. I like tourney runs.
He definitely underestimated the talent level of the B1G.

@dbmhoosier It's alarming he didn't realize that. Shit, we as fans have known that for years.
They are running the Hoosiers BB more professionally by bringing in Carr. An Indiana Hoosier with lots of NBA experience.
And with all the hand-wringing about this roster, DeVries still already inked several good recruits. So far.
Carr promises to get guys for DeVries and believes his own NBA connections is a plus for that. Both seem pumped that we will be able to do that. Carr says HS recruits are key so you dont end up like NBA free agency with over paying for the roster but instead use to add key players.
DeVries didnt just now realize you need to recruit. 🤣 🤣
Whatever. I’ll believe it when I see it, Scott.
Good to have some clarity on the admin's expectations. What a joke.Damage control.
