PS I’ll also spend lots of time asking who’s that. For the first time ever…
I've said before, if we were ever going to put names on jerseys, now is the time.
A few reasons for that.
1. IU Football is a national title contender and is sitting at 6-0 and 3rd in the nation with a trophy game this weekend. Heck, Most of IU's fall sports are doing well with great storylines.
2. I don't want to bury basketball stuff too far out from games, so we have a handful of pieces in the queue ready.
3. My attention for the forum has been pulled toward the Water Cooler where Adults think they're middle school children and need supervision before someone comes crying.
I can't speak to other sites or schools, but it does feel like basketball in general is flying under the radar this year.
Literally the only reason to have the water cooler is so those goat humpers keep their trash posts over there. So, please keep it.
@dbmhoosier I expect IU to win from the get-go with their resources. Shouldn't that be the expectation? Many college coaches have immediately turned around programs, so why not?
I'm sure, though, that many people will jump for joy with a 7th-place B1G finish and an NCAAT bid. Better than Woody, of course, but that shouldn't be the bar. If DD is worth his salt, IU should make some noise in Year 1 like Dusty did at Michigan.

Meh, Dusty is 1 data point (a painful one for sure). There's also UofL/UK data points.
All the new coaches had success to varying degrees with Dusty out front, now all 3 are essentially Top 10 heading into season 2 which seems like a far bar to me.
I'm not going to get worked up about a Top 7 finish in year 1 (if thats what transpires with the unbalanced schedule) that just can't be the norm moving forward. I think comfortably in the dance while no longer playing like a 1980s NBA team and with visible progression/development as the season goes on is a good start.
Sure it was just an exhibition game, but that was a fun brand of basketball to watch. IU needs Dorn healthy.
@hozo4ultimate Wasn't taking it as a shot at all. Just trying to explain the general feeling. Football is white hot, so that's where effort will be put but many until Basketball really starts up.
I was at Big Ten Media Days for hoops and while it was a nice event, the buzz around it, isn't what it is for football. A lot of that is timing, but to me basketball has become a one to two month sport.
I am not saying that's how we plan on covering it, because it's not. But that's the general feeling on the overall sport. Just seems muted more than ever this year.
when I was a at IU we won a BB title my senior year. My Freshman year we beat UNC with Jordan. I think we won 1 FB game in my first two college years?
as an IU student I had zero interest in CFB. That continued for the most part aside from some signs of being mildy interested during the Mallory years. It wasn’t that I didn’t really consider myself much of an IU football fan (heck, I was probably more likely to follow IU soccer), it was that I didn’t care about college FB.
BUT, that is not how the typical sports fan thinks. CFB seems much, much more popular than CBB. Bottom line (and sorry for the rambling), I suspect there are a big number of IU fans that have had their eyes opened to college football. It’s a much bigger sport than CBB. Yes, the NCAA tournament makes for great entertainment over a couple of weeks. But, football seems to rule.
