I was told things would pick up once the season started (not just here). Bizarre there is nobody talking IU hoops, anywhere.
Anyway, I'm pumped to be back in hall tomorrow. O/U how many times my awesome wife asks me, "who is that guy?"
The season is three weeks away.
I actually am interested, this year. Since it's all new. In previous decades I was unable to get interested in exhibition games. Except to see the newest recruits. Because back 'in the day' they may not play much after those games.
Thanks for the heads up. If I can't watch I'll listen.
A few reasons for that.
1. IU Football is a national title contender and is sitting at 6-0 and 3rd in the nation with a trophy game this weekend. Heck, Most of IU's fall sports are doing well with great storylines.
2. I don't want to bury basketball stuff too far out from games, so we have a handful of pieces in the queue ready.
3. My attention for the forum has been pulled toward the Water Cooler where Adults think they're middle school children and need supervision before someone comes crying.
I can't speak to other sites or schools, but it does feel like basketball in general is flying under the radar this year.
@thehoosierhuddle not aiming at you or content. It's more the lack of posts from the mob. And it's not just an issue here. Water Cooler... best of luck.
You'll need a full time staff member to police the middle schoolers on the water cooler. Rarely do I brave that hot mess. Not worth the time.
but let's go with the basketball. Love what's going on with football but having both going will bring more folks to the site. And Hozo you're right not activity at all. Could have something to do with the wonderful weather we've been having here in Indiana this Fall?
@hozo4ultimate Wasn't taking it as a shot at all. Just trying to explain the general feeling. Football is white hot, so that's where effort will be put but many until Basketball really starts up.
I was at Big Ten Media Days for hoops and while it was a nice event, the buzz around it, isn't what it is for football. A lot of that is timing, but to me basketball has become a one to two month sport.
I am not saying that's how we plan on covering it, because it's not. But that's the general feeling on the overall sport. Just seems muted more than ever this year.
The Woodson and Archie era's were so bad it's really hard to believe. Lost a lot of fan support. People aren't expecting us to be that good this season and we have no superstar player. Also, what Sammy said about the football team being elite is a big part of it too.
And also most fans know nothing about Darian DeVries. They see a Drake coach who was at WVU for one year and missed the dance and are like WTF? Hell Dakich was offered the WVU job. He must be terrible.
In reality he's an excellent coach and they'll see that soon. Be patient.
Could be a good thing that basketball has to compete with football and earn some fan attention for once. It's no longer a given.

You need to offload that. And no, I'm not volunteering.
@unclemark Nobody wants it. Which I understand.
There's a difference between wanting to and being willing to.

We are coming off two bad coaches and lets be honest DD was not a splashy get you super excited hire. The portal haul on paper is not super impressive and we are not picked to finish high in the big ten. With football killing it the basketball program will have to prove with wins it can excite fans again. Right now football is king.
Interest in the football game has slowed interest in exhibition basketball. Things will pick up
PS I’ll also spend lots of time asking who’s that. For the first time ever…
