@gthomas if Stevens ends up at UNC or Kansas (or any other program), I might actually consider just giving up entirely and never watch college ball again. I would be way too defeated to ever pay attention any more.

Yeah that certainly would be a hard one to swallow ... that's what she said..., it means one of 2 things :

1. We are a very undesirable place to coach

2. We didn't give him what he wants or what he actually could command in the open market

Honestly I think it's 2... we are cheap when we shouldn't and foolhardy when we shouldn't be ...

@hoosiers94 I think it's 3: He's has no desire to coach college ball again. But I get that the premise was "Stevens ends up at UNC or Kansas" and in that case yeah, you'd have to think we just didn't offer enough or his demands were absolutely unrealistic (but not for UNC or Kansas?).

And for the last 2 hires, Dolson made hard runs at Stevens

You really think IU made a "hard run" at Stevens this time around? I highly doubt it.

No I think they tried before woodson but not this time. I think this time it was DD the whole time.

... - Mark Byintgon. Can definitely see him leaving Vandy for UNC.

...

Byington is the 'other guy' (if not McCollum) I wanted as our coach. But I didn't think we'd try to get him to move after a single year at Vandy. Then we went and did it to get Coach DeVries.

Hope Scott D. is right!

Go Hoosiers!

I don't think there's a chance in hell, but if Stevens ended up at UNC, Hoosier fans would lose their minds.

Stevens has already said he's not a candidate nor interested.

If you had this kind of six year run at IU in the last 25 years they would probably name the arena after you.

2021–22 North Carolina 29–10 15–5 T–2nd NCAA Division I Runner-up
2022–23 North Carolina 20–13 11–9 7th Declined NIT invitation[22]
2023–24 North Carolina 29–8 17–3 1st NCAA Division I Sweet 16
2024–25 North Carolina 23–14 13–7 T–4th NCAA Division I Round of 64
2025–26 North Carolina 24–9 12–6 T–4th NCAA Division I Round of 64
North Carolina: 125–54 (.698) 68–30 (.694)

Has a better postseason showing than Crean and people still bellyache about Crean being let go and even want him back.

Hope is not optimism, which expects things to turn out well, but something rooted in the conviction that there is good worth working for. - Seamus Heaney, Irish poet and likely Hoosier basketball fan.

Don't worry. I love Boston and am still running one of the most iconic professional franchises in the world.  I'm not leaving for some podunk college town.

So Woody's First Four win doesn't count?

Its really bad when the list goes down to ONE win and we couldn't even meet that lofty goal.... argggh

My guess is either Otz or McAasland to Kansas.  Byington or Oats to UNC.

I know we’ve stunk, but this hit hard….

It's inaccurate, but even the accurate numbers are depressing.  Indiana was mistakenly ommited from the list.

First Four games are official NCAAT games and those wins are on our record.

It's inexplicable. How can we completely screw up all these coaching hires over such a long period of time? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.

It was by designed and put in motion by Myles Brand some 25 years ago. Each decision after that has been to hire the anti-Knight. Someone who was soft and amicable with the right optics for the media as to be a good PR for the university. Problem is, those types don't often win to the level needed. The only hire that wasn't really that way was Woody, He was just lazy in comparison to what is needed for the college game.
