Did all what? Went to a Purdue game in Purdue colors because he went to the game with a Purdue person?

OMG!!!!!!!!

Kent is a legacy. I dont know him. But Ive seen him tout Indiana plenty of times.

I know Dakich personally.  He's a showman but he's very passionate.  We went to the same high school. He's a bit older but we've both been involved in many a fundraiser together for our Alma mater.  I've always had a good time with him. I never listened to him on the radio and I've heard some of the things he's said.  Don't agree nor like some of it but that's his prerogative... but he does love IU. That much I can tell you.

yeah I think that when I saw that all those years ago I was very puzzled.   But now that my son goes to Purdue , I own a Purdue sweatshirt.  I would not however wear it on a day we played them.  Yesterday my IU gear was on ...

I went to a game once with my then boss, a Purdue grad. He was trying to do something nice. I enjoyed myself and pretended to be all-in for the home team. They werent playing IU though, lol.

He went to multiple games at Mackey in his black and gold gear as he was dating some woman who worked for the school's credit union.  Dakich talked about on his show when it first happened.  Kent stated he was supporting Painter and purdoo because he likes good basketball.  Plenty of former players were pissed about the way Knight was treated and then the Sampson situation.  He's the only one who went out of his way to be an asshole with his open support of that team up north.

Helluva player.  Helluva dick too.

Being pissed at the Knight deal and the Sampson fiasco is standard fare.

yeah he could have "supported" painter without wearing the gear. That might have been less of a sting

Exactly.  Being friends with Painter or anyone around PU's bball program is no big deal.  I bet a lot of people were friends with Gene Keady, if you ever met him he was a very nice guy.

But, Kent clearly aligned with Purdue over IU.  And that's fine, it's a free country, but it also means some IU fans will have an issue with that.  Being butthurt over Knight/Sampson isn't great justification to flip to your rival, especially after what we all know happened over his four years at IU that sent him to the NBA as a #1 pick.

I guess I did forget he did sort of publicly call us out at the time.

OK, ok, you swayed me, I'll sneer a little at Benson going forward. Grin

Just act aloof as if he's an inconsequential pleb and feign a distant politeness if you ever run into him.  That'll hurt him more than the sneer.  Bonus points if you're wearing a Kareem jersey.

@hooky Don't like what Benson did to IU with the public Purdue sport, but also think what Kareem did was criminal. I think Benson elbowed him and have no trouble with Kareem getting him back in the course of play, but to step up and sucker punch him, could have injured him seriously or killed him, and many people felt he was never the same player after that. Kareem broke his hand and missed several games after that (not sure if he was also suspended, or that was concurrent to the time missed) and got fined, but honestly, I think suspension for the rest of the season would have been warranted.

It was cowardly, no doubt.  I'm not condoning it, just offering a way to pay back the broiler support.

@hooky he came into the dealership I worked at and was a real jerk. I had a hat on that I used for work(old and dirty) and he got onto me because it wasn’t an IU hat. His personal life is….well something.
