@scam-likely peegs had a lot of this info out there with the hysterics chiming in.  I do think he is very plugged in on the financials.  Really wish it was public info and I bet it will be soon.

I hate the money aspect of sports, and generally don't follow it because it's business and business just isn't entertaining to me .. so I don't really pay attention or even care much ... but ...

Just using simple logic here. If it truly was that high, what the hell did UK, Mich, Kansas, UCLA, BYU etc pay out? Their rosters are filled with high priced transfers and recruits.. it was said early this year UK paid 22 million for their overrated roster..

IU shopped from the bargain bin the above went straight to the Gucci section. There's no way TD got 2.5 to 3 million, Lendeborg reputedly got that much - 2.3 to 3 - and he was number one in the portal and there was no one else bidding on Tucker. It's guessed that TD got just over a million.

Who knows ..

fwiw - We may or may not be in the top 20 in NIL, but we sure in the f*ck aren't near the teams I listed above.

Hell we gave Leal 400k last year.

A relative bargain!

curious if you are still thinking about this one. 25 minutes, zero points, an airball in his only shot, and 3 turnovers.  He tried real hard against a 3-13 team tho at home!!!

he has no business starting for IU.  Just like I stated at the beginning of the year.  With players like this our ceiling is a bubble team, and that is atrocious.

@cavanagh

the title of the post is he has no business playing, not starting.

the problem isn't with enright, it's with other players. had dorn not started off hurt and conerway been hampered by an injured ankle for the 2nd half of the season, i think he's a solid back up.

i also think he was thrust into playing nearly every minute and has hit a wall.

if you want me to eat crow because i think enright is a fine back up, sure, but this team is under .500 without him, imo, and the title of this thread is wrong.

Connor beat Purdue and Wisconsin. Without him we add those to our many losses. And he's contributed in others.

Yes, it would be far better if he had some offense.

Last night was a very weak game for Enright. But to me it seemed like Coach DeVries caused much of that. Coach had no game plan.

This team and roster is garbage.  Conor played for DePaul last year.  He doesn’t play any meaningful minutes for a good team. He might be able to play 5-10 mins a game for a top 20 team and that’s what we should be every year.

Last night anyway things were better with Tayton on the court and Conner off it, at PG.  They played them together some, but that doesn't work due to poorer floor spacing.

At times Conner seems to see the floor better and make fewer bad decisions, but just has nowhere near Tayton's quickness to beat people off the dribble and draw doubles.  Tayton's obviously worked on his lobs but is more erratic in passing it seems to me.

The best offense we had going in the second half was when Conor and Sam were working the pick & roll.

i think the biggest issue i have with the bashing of enright is that he was brought in to be a back up because of tayton conerway. and, as you said above, he should only be getting back up minutes on a good team...WE AGREE!

people can talk about the reed bailey evaluation being off but conerway is the biggest problem with this team. devries clearly thought he had javon small light in conerway. a guy who could penetrate and kick but also was a tenacious on ball defender that could produce live ball turnovers.

although super efficient in the metrics of late offensively becaues of his play against northwestern and then getting a bunch of garbage time run against purdue, conerway simply hasn't been the "head of the snake" defender nor the facilitator that they thought they were getting. he's averaging over 4 fouls per 40 mins and gone 3/17 from 3 since his 4-4 against washington.i get he had the ankle injury but you cannot have a pg that fouls all the time on defense and also cannot shoot 3s.

and something weird is happening there because iu's season is on the line and he's barely playing, yet he's by far the best option offensively at pg. this isn't a bashing tayton thing either...i just think there is more behind the scenes happening than we know.

10 million didn't go very far last year. As you mentioned, UK paid 22 million.

SI just put out an article about NIL. At least 20+ programs paid 10 million last year. IU's budget is nothing special anymore. Bigfoot squandered the years where it was.

Our NIL in football is top third of the big, as they promised Cig. That is a lot of money to be one of the top 5-6 teams.

Our basketball NIL sounds middle of the road. I haven't understood the deep pockets comments stuff for awhile, when you hear of Michigan and some others.

No big complaints by me, Scott will keep working on it. Will help to win though... chicken and the egg. Coach only has a few freshman coming, but they look talented and fit the system. Decent start. We do need some good news on the couple-or-three big athlete front. But every team drools for those guys, they cost a lot. Hopefully we can compete.

Back on topic, Enright had a pretty good year. Didn't score much but did a ton to help us go. We are 18-12 and beat Purdue, so not totally chopped liver.

@openwheel being a bubble team and going 10-10 is 100% chop liver.  They let 68 teams in if you are questionable to make it you suck.

@iureactionary enright has started every game.  We even started him with tayton for the first like 15 which was asinine.  I don’t know what DD was thinking but it was not thinking good that’s for sure.  Dorn isn’t a starter level player in the big ten either, so he missed on about 6 rotation guys IMO.
