That's an interesting hypothesis. Anything substantive to back it up, or is this just your thinking on what was the case?
Good thing we avoided that cupcake, if he's so worried about Purdue fans.

@walt542 Tracks with what I had heard from some people that I know, that should know. At the time, I chalked it up to IU choosing to stick with Woodson, and the May's feeling "spurned".
Also, there was an article written about Dusty and his wife, and how getting out of the Bloomington area was something that both of them wanted, especially his wife (after his time at IU).
These things open up the possibility that maybe Dolson/Quinn, etc... might have been open to moving on Woodson after year 3 for a guy like May or Stevens. But neither were interested. ??? That would shatter a lot of narratives on this board...
@walt542 Sounds like IU needed to buy his entire extended family a condo building or something down in the Keys. Think outside the box! I think May, at IU, would have been very successful. At the time, I posted many times about reservations I had about him. He was giving off some serious Tom Crean vibes, to me. And I honestly don't think he'll sustain Michigan, at the level they're playing right now... But I do think, with their resources behind him now, he'll keep them as a perennial B10 contender, and deep NCAA run threat. I don't think its any sort of given, if he had been hired this past offseason at IU, that he'd be doing all that much better than CDD. Can't stress enough how different the NIL/Rev Share/Portal values were this past offseason versus the prior offseason. And while May probably would have gotten a little more backing from the donors than CDD did, its a stretch to think he'd have had enough to get all the same guys he got at Michigan. And he wouldn't have had the benefit of a good 1st season in the B10, to show guys wanting to move up.
Yeah, I know Dusty is quite happy with his situation there and it seems a perfect fit for him right now. He kept a place in south Florida for the family to get away from the winters up there when necessary and his wife likes it down there so all is good. Never know what the future holds, but he is certainly doing well right now.@walt542 Sounds like IU needed to buy his entire extended family a condo building or something down in the Keys. @walt542 I would think he'll have a long and successful run in Ann Arbor, at this point. Assuming the NBA lure isn't there. Maybe he'll take over for Spoelstra when he moves on, or something?
Come on... 😆...

I think we can see what sort of foresight our school has when it comes to the basketball program.
Watching OSU at MSU early, not at all confident in our chances when we go to Columbus.

We have a better chance of beating MSU at home.

Probably. I saw their game against Virginia, which was neck & neck until the last few minutes. That was without Mobley, who is by far their best 3 pt shooter. Thornton's better than anyone we have, unless Wilkerson is playing at the top of his game. Bynum's not that great, but he's 6 8 240 lbs and plays like it, so he'll feast on the boards. Royal stunk it up v. Virginia and they were still in the game. Tilly, the center, is pretty horrible, but no worse than Bailey. They have no depth. Cupps plays 5-10 minutes /game and still stinks.
Little sidebar infographic during the Houston/Kansas game had me do a double-take.
Excellent points. Unfortunately, IU has put itself in a position that a home loss to NW or Minnesota is devastating for its tourney hopes ... regardless of which teams are on the Bubble. The Hoosiers' path is already narrow-ish.Rough night for IU from a bubble perspective. I know, I know...IU just needs to win games and the tourney selection will take care of itself and you can't rely on the results elsewhere to get what you want. That written, Indiana's resume does not live in a vacuum and the results of other games absolutely could end up mattering (even if just for seeding). We'll start to keep track of those results over the next 2-3 weeks in this thread.
-Ohio State got a massive win over Wisconsin. That helps the Buckeyes and their case to make the NCAA Tournament and it keeps IU's win over Wisconsin from creeping into Q1 territory (at least, so far).
-SMU beat Louisville and that helps the Mustangs as they try to get off the bubble.
-Iowa knocked off Nebraska and halted their skid.
-Georgia beat Kentucky at Rupp Arena and the win gives the Bulldogs a key victory.
It wasn't all bad though...Minnesota drilled Oregon (IU is hoping they can rise into the top 75 and remove the only Q2/Q3/Q4 loss on IU's resume) and UCLA got thumped by Michigan State. The Bruins are in free-fall mode and are dropping from bubble consideration plus Mick Cronin clearly hates his team and is begging to get canned.
Just f---ing once I'd like to hit March without any worries.
Wisconsin with a bad loss getting blown out at Oregon.
