@iunorth I'm not sure what he can do. A ho hum year isn't going to convince them of anything and Bigfoot wasted millions with no return.
Have to turn this year around and get more consistent.
not concerned at all that he'd
miss the tournament and hence not worried that he's getting fired.
you're only looking at this current team and the situation one dimensionally :
It's not just wins and losses. Its trajectory , his lack of charisma. Guys loafing up and down the court especially his son. How he seems to think a 3 from just over the half court line is a good shot up 7 against Kentucky His son should be the one most bought into his "plan". Guy has never had a technical foul called on him.. yes DD has never had a technical foul called on him. Hes not getting fired before seasons end. But if this season doesn't turn around and stay on track there's no reason that can't be done at season end . It's easy to spin ... point out these things amongst the roster bumbling , losses , loafing , poor coaching ... guys cannot even run an out of bounds play properly and all they get is "good try Johnny ". That's not hard to explain and sell. He'd have to have a marquis class coming in but I don't see that happening either because he's not going to have the funds if this season is a joke, sorry give it to Cig . And any coach with talent and stones sees it. Despite what the passive aggressive patronizing nonsense comments that are input in lieu of the truth.
Surjay don't get mad at me. Just my opinion. Personally I don't think it's unhinged. It's what our program has come to. U think a coach will sign up for one year and then one more of complete patronization. Basically the 2nd year is torture to make him resign. That's not changing anything.
Although these forums provide only a miniscule sample size, they do reflect reality as it relates to fan enthusiasm. How many times have you noticed something like this on here? ...

@hoosiers94 No, I'm looking at reality and reality is that NO coach is getting fired after 1 season. Its pure insanity to think otherwise. Its not happening and its definitely not happening 11 games into the season. It has nothing to do with IU either. No other schools are going to do this and no coaches will be ok with that. Your disdain for DDV and the past 30 years of inept basketball is clouding your judgement here.
Again, you can keep track of all the coaches who get fired after a year moving forward and get back to me.
Hopefully we beat Chicago State on Friday, so we can flip the thread talk to extension instead of firing.
Ironically , Chicago St fired their coach last year after only ..... 1 year
Paul Corsaro IU-Indy .. fired last year after only one year ... part of the greater IU system of which you said is incapable of doing so. It may not have BEEN prevalent , what I'm saying is it will become more prevalent going forward as this has become more of a business and more like the Wild West
And yes I have disdain for DD because I can see clear as day that dog don't hunt. Put it out of its misery
my disdain is not personal. I don't know him but he seems like a decent guy ...

LOL come on man, those are your examples? Corsaro was fired for abusing players (there's active lawsuits from the players right now). I've repeatedly said "without a scandal". I would consider him getting fired for abuse and the university being sued as a scandal.
Chicago St?! That dude was a journeyman assistant elevated after the last coach bolted. There was never any expectations he was some long-term guy to build a program (a bottom feeder low major at that).
Can we at least stick to P5 schools without a scandal?
so why can't we be the first
one could argue he misled us with his "plan". I don't think the folks at West Virginia would be too upset about it.
@hoosiers94 We can be the first and then end up with Randy Wittman as interim coach for a year or 2 or even worse.
I for one am not advocating for coach DD's firing after one year, that is ridiculous and won't happen, nor should it. Having said that however I am concerned about his and the teams decision making and effort in some of their games particularly the UK game. Leading by 7 at half and losing by 12 to me is the perfect demonstration of poor coaching and/or adjustment to the opposition. I've also noticed the lack of effort from several players, which in my opinion was the reason for the Minnesota loss. I hope the team matures and develops and can make the tourney, but if not I certainly won't be surprised or that disappointed as it's become normal now for IUBB. Coach DD deserves two or three years to turn the program around but if I'm being honest to this point I am not very impressed.

It is the wild Wild West and not just for players. It is not unusual to see a player play for three teams in three years. IMHO, we will see what is happening with players happen with coaches. And it’s not going to just be a coach that keeps jumping to a new program (like the guy that just abandoned his playoff bound fb team to go to conference rival LSU). It’s going to be guys getting fired too. And why shouldn’t they?
it’s a new era.

exactly my point. You can love it or hate it but it is what it is. Nothing any of us can do about it except turn the tv off

Buckner? He sure killed it in that one season with the Mavs winning almost 16% of his games.

as doomsday as you think I'm being , you're swinging the same way by projecting we could do no better than Wittman or Buckner with a 9m salary and top 5 NIL.
