Making the rounds this week

Thought I would open a thread to discuss any thoughts and opinions of HH.

Mine

IU - Estimate too high

Purdue - At the very bottom of the barrel.  Also estimate way too high.  Poor SOBs.  Lol

Ohio St. - 6 million cost per win this season

Iowa - 2.5 million per win

I haven’t read it, but can almost guarantee that they only got numbers from agents.

I’ve got pretty good sources, IU is around $35M this year so they’re close with us.

Very interesting exercise.  I think it’s probably directionally right.  Stew and his guys at the Athletic are pretty solid.

Sounds like you might have a good answer to this question.

When is the bulk of the fundraising completed for say the '27 reload and a loose "budget" in place for the upcoming portal class?

@middawg Sorry, not sure.  When it comes to how the sausage is made I don't know.

@tammany no doubt. I think they did use a range of numbers. I’ll give it a read tomorrow, but yes they do great work

Cig said in one of his interviews this summer that for this year our support stayed in the top third in the B1G. And I figured he didn't mean exactly 6th.

So seeing Nebraska not far below us, Wisconsin (! Bang for buck there... !) and Penn State , and about tied with Michigan, our placement looks very reasonable.

I know Penn State had a ton of expenses recently and ongoing, but I have to believe the Iowa State incoming didn't cost top tier bucks, they just had a ton of portal guys incoming, so their number or ranking I'll bet is going to move up sharply over the next year or two. Probably will settle in with Michigan, below Oregon and Ohio State.

Probably less than two years ago we were discussing whether Indiana could justify the $18-$20 million mark and Cig saying the reports we were near 25-30 were off the mark. Now what is that, about 50 teams at $20 million or more? 15-20 around 35 or more?  Wow.  Yeah, players should be satisfied with a scholarship... (Thanks NCAA 🙁  ) There's no money in this sport. 😆
