Ugh, I got Rose Bowl tickets, but the flights are nuts. 700 a ticket. Da fugg
@whatthefrik Yes. Holidays. Timing makes it very challenging. Connections etc. I wish I knew if they would make the national championship. Miami is much easier. But the Rose Bowl would be a once in a lifetime memory for everyone.
I am landing 11:30 pm PT on NYE due to the cost
Got direct flights through Southwest but the round trip wasn’t cheap. $1,000.
The airlines may have opened up direct flights for this trip but they certainly didn’t drop prices.
Did IU send out emails?
Did IU send out emails?
I didn’t get one. Would have thought they’d send one out whether one got tix or not…
@thehoosierhuddle I got mine about 5:00 this evening. Only tells you what tier you have. Actual seats assigned later.
Hmmm. I didn’t get one either
Someone posted on twitter yesterday that they called the IU athletics ticket office the cutoff was 227 priority points for getting one of IU's Rose Bowl allotment of tickets.
Yeah I'm assuming I barely made it.
The Rose Bowl is gorgeous. We're excited to see everything around town with the parade.
The good-ish news is that resale tickets seem to be holding fairly steady. We got ours the morning after the conference championship game for $400/per in the lower bowl end zone. I just checked SeatGeek & TicketMaster and tickets in the same area are now between $400 & $600.
Flights definitely weren't cheap. And hotels in Pasadena are expensive if you're wanting to stay there. But Pasadena is lovely and recommended. Especially with everything going on with the tournament of Roses.
Speaking of which, check out the Tournament of Roses website. We don't particularly want to stand for the parade but my wife wants to see the floats. They do a thing called "Float Fest" where they park all of the floats starting after the parade for a few days and you buy tickets to walk past all of them for two hours if you want to see them up close. The website has the schedule for all of the things having to do with the event, even running a midnight 5k on NYE if that's your thing.
@tmft It sound wonderful. It's trying to squeeze it in around the holidays is challenging. And the flights we were looking at out of Indy were an entire day to travel there and an entire day to travel back
Definitely a challenge. When we've flow out west for games the last two years, we've done an early flight out of Indy and the redeye back overnight. This time we're doing an evening flight there and a morning flight back. We're flying direct too because we didn't want to mess with connections.
And LAX is pretty awful.
@tmft LAX is awful! The logistics of putting this together around the holidays is definitely a challenge!
