He was 4th string at Louisville.  Neither he nor Dasan would have been good enough to start here under Cig.

Well, maybe Dasan if he got Cig’s coaching.  Both Fisher and Hardy were much better.  I think Dasan had 21 total tackles on the season.  Hardy had 41 and 8 sacks.

Dasan would have been much better off if he kept his commitment to OSU or Indiana instead of bouncing around all these schools. He switched from OSU to us, had a good true freshman year, and basically all downhill from there at his time at OU and Nebraska

Have to consider how his injury impacted his career, not just his jumping around to different schools.

Dasan had the physical tools. He had a defensive minded coach that was investing all of the universities energy into his success.  Much like Allen did with Jaylin Lucas.

When a kid has full carte blanche on a P4 program yet not good enough to know they will 100% be starting for a contender if they transfer, they should stay.  Justin Kerr is another who comes to mind.  It happens all the time and it pretty much never works out.   Penix was a guy who knew he would start somewhere else and he followed the coaching staff that helped him succeed.

Penix only knew he could start because it was his old coach. He wasn’t highly rated as a transfer QB, coming off all those injuries

@hoosierdaddy - Its not the rating, its the players opinion of themselves.   Penix was highly confident he would start right away wherever he went.  Penix was also a weird situation compared to the others where he was sort of stagnant in his development at iU (clearly due to injuries) so it wasn't like he was walking away from a great opportunity looking to upgrade.  He was getting out of a rough situation to get a change of scenario in hopes of improving.  He would've stayed had he kept playing uninjured.
