I am really worried about Penn State. Especially with all the coach talk. Those 5 stars didn’t suddenly lose their ability. Unless they’ve totally quit you’d think at some point they’d play for pride.
At this point, I'm worried about every game. Now that we got past Oregon, every single game left is a potential trap game, starting tomorrow. Any loss before the B1G championship will be seen by voters, pundits, and most importantly, the selection committee, as a blemish. If we had gone 11-1, with the only loss being in Eugene, that would be excused. If we go 11-1 now, it will be because we screwed up, and people will immediately start to question us.
But, hey, that's okay, I guess, because all that really means is that we've finally arrived. In my entire life, I never thought we'd get to the point where we looked at IU football and said, "We'd better run the table, or the season is a disappointment." Only a handful of schools have historically gotten to be that arrogant about football, and this season, we get to share in it.
Working here in the upper peninsula, lot of state fans in the office. And I was asked by my boss our head of marketing (a USC fan, California transplant) if we played or had a bye this weekend. I said Michigan State. The head of finance quipped, so you have a bye... I said no Im calling it a trap game.
