The Notre Dame fans saying he was "not a big deal" are just bragging about their OL depth, and ignoring that part of it has to do with NIL. Coogan started 2 full seasons for them, as the center of the strongest position group on their team
Coogan got a big NIL check. So did their other OL they lost, Rocco Spindler, who reportedly got over $1m. They couldnt pay to keep those guys and keep the younger guys on their team in the portal era. Its not just a "they got passed up" situation
