My son is heading down to IU with some buddies tonight, staying a couple nights. Where would be the best place for him to plan on parking for the weekend? He's staying with a friend in one of the dorms. But I know the parking on football game days, for students, can get a little tricky. I'm sure he'll figure it out, just trying to help him avoid any unnecessary conflicts.
@iunorth have him check out the Parking Operations site for IU. It should have instructions. The CH marked spaces I believe are available for anyone with or without a permit from 5pm on Friday to 11Pm on Sunday's or something like that. But the information on game day parking for students who need to move their cars should be on that site. You just need to double check as some spaces may be 24 hour enforced but there are normally signs in the lots that say what parking permit is needed and if its enforced 24/7 or not.

Have him park in the Ken's Westside Towing impound lot. It will save him the tow bill.
To dovetail and avoid a new thread, if I have tickets for a game later in the year, but not parking passes (yet!), what would you recommend for parking? Bringing my adult son who's never been to an IU game, so interested in pre-game experience too, so maybe factor that in. Are there remote lots with shuttles that might be a good option and put us near areas that have pre-game events? It's the USC game so don't yet know the time, but hoping it will be a "big" game with possible Gameday type events.
There always things going on south side of the stadium. They usually have a local band playing and walking around the grass lots is a lot of fun. @kkott St Paul’s on 17th street just this year has started taking reservations. It’s been $50 for pre conference games but may go up, haven’t looked recently.
@zeke4ahs Thanks Zeke! Went ahead and made reservations at St Paul. Liked the idea of a smaller lot opposite most of the main lots. We'll be walking to the game and wanting to experience pregame beforehand anyway, so that sounded like a good way to get a spot locked in!
PS, and it was $75/spot for USC in advance. Guessing the same for other B10 games. I wonder about OH St. Rooms I think are going to be the premium for that game.

I like this thread. My crew is missing out on the tailgating extravaganza. We have 5 passes in Lot 9 which in nice (and convenient), but there's not a lot of room to set anything up. Add the fact all our food is in the stadium with a semi-private bar and we just kinda stand around with a couple beverages then head in about an hour before kickoff. I honestly believe we are missing out on half the fun.
