This is correct. Let the pundits and fans speculate about the CFP rankings all year, but don't give them an actual ranking to put any weight on. They should publish one and only one ranking - the one that matters at the end.

So is the argument that the AP, ESPN, USA Today, etc... aren't allowed to put out a poll?  If it is, how are you gonna enforce that?

Nah, just CFP.

I'm following now.

I don't think that works either though.  Imagine the uproar when anything the least bit controversial is dumped out on the table at the very end.  It's bad enough now.

At the end of the day, coaches and teams shouldn't be paying attention to it anyway.  Just win the game you're playing that week and move on to the next one afterwards.

The weekly release has nothing to do with them fouling it up. Nothing! And most seem to agree, yet want that part to go away, in order to give the committee thicker cover. LOL (Internally we have Notre Dame 6 spots ahead of Miami, but nobody know that, so Miami it is!)

What fouled it up is the committee decided to just do whatever they wanted to get certain conferences, teams, ESPN picks, and their buddies favorites in. Nothing changed in their view about Notre Dame. LOL Come on... They just had to say #### you, at the end, because they wanted the ACC.

If they actually used metrics and all the other BS they spout, little to nothing would have changed at the end.

So, they should use an algorithm. Period. That can be up the minute all season long. It was astonishing the one thing they had fairly correct in the old BCS, they threw away. Which tells you most of what you need to know about their purpose.
