Neil Brown brought in something like 72(!) new players… Some of them are bound to be halfway decent…
I’m guessing that we see something close to, or better than, a mid-level MAC team effort from these guys, add in the “we’re playing the defending national champs, let’s show the world who We are” twist and we might get much more of a game from these guys than most expect…
Historically, we’ve started relatively slowly in our early games, so this one may have a few unpleasant surprises for us based on the past.

Hard to tell with basically everything being new for them. If they were returning their staff, and a bunch of players from last year's team, I'd predict a relatively close game. But then, the spread would also reflect that. Like our team 2 years ago, its probably next to impossible to predict what UNT will look like early in this new staff's first year.
I think IU would likely thump a B10 or SEC school, in a similar situation to what UNT is, so this shouldn't be a nail biter by the end of the game. But I wouldn't be surprised to see it close for a while.
You may be right but if I were a North Texas fan coming off the rare air of being a couple of wins away from being in the Playoff discussion I’m gonna be seriously disappointed if my new Head Coach doesn’t pull out all the stops to at least attempt to upset the reigning National Champs at their place…
I think we’ll win this one and probably win it big but I fully expect to see a lot more going on out there then just pure vanilla installs from North Texas… If they don’t get more than that from their new head coach they’ve hired the wrong guy.
If their Coach is smart he’ll run stuff that goes against his previous on tape tendencies. I expect to see them attempt to run more and varied types of screens, along with more throws to their RB’s then they might normally run and for them to try to be closer to 50/50 (run/pass) than his historic 60/40…
I think our former QB will give our new look secondary a solid workout… I’d expect to see a lot of throws off play action. Whether he’ll have the time throw mid to deep is the big question (along with whether his receivers have the talent to get separation)…
We may also see a lot more QB runs than we’d normally expect too… I figure we’ll be seeing a lot of RPO’s…, with the qb keeping it…
Should be an interesting and entertaining game… One of the small positives of the extreme heat factor is that we’ll most likely get to see our entire 3 deep and maybe even more get some PT…
